ground, he slew the first-born, and opened the sea, wherein he drowned Pharaoh. 11 Of these things I have wrought none. 12 And of Moses, every one confesseth that he is a dead man at this present. 13 Joshua made the sun to stand still ( [1] ), and opened the Jordan, which I have not yet done. 14 And of Joshua every one confesseth that he is a dead man at this present. 15 Elijah made fire to come visibly down from heaven ( [2] ), and rain ( [3] ), which I have not done. 16 And of Elijah every one confesseth that he is a man. 17 And in [like manner] very many other prophets, holy men, friends of God, who in the power of God have wrought things which cannot be grasped by the minds of those who know not our God(a), almighty and merciful, who is blessed for evermore.’

1 Accordingly the governor and the priest and the king prayed Jesus that in order to quiet the people he should mount up into a lofty place and speak to the people.

الأرض وقتل الأبكار وشق البحر وأغرق فيه فرعون 11 ولم أفعل شيئا من هذه 12 وكل يعترف بأن موسى إنما هو الآن رجل ميت 13 أوقف يشوع ( [4] ) الشمس وشق الأردن وهما ما لم أفعله حتى الآن 14 وكل يعترف بأن يشوع إنما هو الآن رجل ميت 15 وأنزل إيليا النار ( [5] ) من السماء عيانا وأنزل المطر ( [6] ) وهما مما لم أفعله 16 وكل يعترف بأن إيليا إنما هو بشر 17 كثيرون آخرون من الأنبياء والأطهار وأخلاء الله فعلوا بقوة الله أشياء لا تبلغ كنهها عقول الذين لا يعرفون إلهنا (ا) القدير الرحيم المبارك إلى الأبد.

1 وعليه فإن الوالي والكاهن والملك توسلوا إلى يسوع أن يرتقي مكانا مرتفعا ويكلم الشعب تسكينا لهم
