the governor with Herod, having great disputations concerning Jesus and concerning his doctrine. 2 Whereupon the priest prayed the governor to write unto Rome to the senate the whole matter; which thing the governor did; 3 wherefore the senate had compassion on Israel, and decreed that on pain of death none should call Jesus the Nazarene, prophet of the Jews, either God or son of God. 4 Which decree was posted up in the temple, engraved upon copper.
5 When the greater part of the crowd had departed, there remained about five thousand men, without women and children( [1] ); 6 who being wearied by the journey, having been two days without bread, for the through longing to see Jesus they had forgotten to not bring any, whereupon they ate raw herbs-therefore they were not able to depart like the others.
7 Then Jesus, when he perceived this had pity on them, and said to Philip: ‘Where shall we find bread for them that they perish not of hunger?’
8 Philip answered: ‘Lord, two hundred pieces of gold could not buy so much bread that each one should taste

والوالي مع هيرودس و(هم) يتحاجون في يسوع وتعليمه 2 لذلك رغب الكاهن إلى الوالي أن يكتب بالأمر كله إلى رومية إلى مجلس الشيوخ ففعل الوالي كذلك 3 لذلك تحنن مجلس الشيوخ على إسرائيل وأصدر أمرا أنه ينهي ويتوعد بالموت كل أحد يدعو يسوع الناصري نبي اليهود إلها أو ابن الله 4 فعلق هذا الأمر في الهيكل منقوشا على النحاس 5 وبعد أن انصرف الفريق الأكبر من الجمع بقى نحو خمسة آلاف رجل خلا النساء والأطفال ([2] ) 6 لذا لم يتمكنوا من الانصراف كالآخرين لأن السفر أعياهم ولأنهم لبثوا يومين بدون خبز إذ كانوا لشدة تشوقهم لرؤية يسوع نسوا أن يحضروا معهم شيئا منه فكانوا يقتاتون بالعشب الأخضر 7 فلما رأى يسوع هذا أخذته الشفقة عليهم وقال لفيلبس : أين نجد خبزا لهم لكيلا يهلكوا من الجوع ؟ 8 أجاب فيلبس : يا سيدي إن مائتي قطعة من الذهب لا تكفي لشراء ما يتبلّغون به
