love of God; nay he hateth his Creator ( [1] ).’
1 ‘Verily I say unto you, that every animal after its own nature, if it lose that which it desireth, mourneth for the lost good. 2 Accordingly, the sinner who will be truly penitent must have great desire to punish in himself that which he hath wrought in opposition to his creator: 3 in such wise that when he prayeth be dare not to crave of God paradise, or that he free him from hell, 4 but in confusion of mind, prostrate before God, he saith in his prayer: “Behold the guilty one, O lord, who hath offended thee without any cause at the very time when he ought to have been serving thee. 5 Wherefore here he seeketh that what he hath done may be punished by thy hand, and not by the hand of Satan, thine enemy; 6 in order that the ungodly may not rejoice over thy creatures. 7 Chastise, punish as it pleaseth thee, O Lord, for

مجد لله بل يبغض خالقه ( [2] ).
الفصل الثاني بعد المائة (ا)
1 الحق أقول لكم أن كل حيوان مفطور على الحزن لفقد ما يشتهي من الطيبات 2 لذلك وجب على الخاطئ النادم ندامة صادقة أن يرغب كل الرغبة في أن يقتص من نفسه لما صنع عاصيا لخالقه 3 حتى إنه متى صلى لا يجسر أن يرجو الجنة من الله أو أن يعتقه من الجحيم 4 بل أن يسجد لله مضطرب الفكر ويقول في صلاته : أنظر يا رب إلى الأثيم الذي أغضبك بدون أدنى سبب في الوقت الذي كان يجب عليه أن يخدمك فيه 5 لذلك يطلب الآن أن تقتص منه لما فعله بيدك لا بيد الشيطان عدوك 6 حتى لا يشمت الفجار بمخلوقاتك 7 أدب واقتص كما تريد يا رب لأنك
