he perceiveth not his misery that he sleepeth with the soul, which is the head of the life? 10 The sleep of the soul is forgetfulness of God (a) and of his fearful judgement ( [1] ).
11 The soul, then, that watcheth is that which in everything and in every place perceiveth God, and in everything and through everything and above everything giveth thanks to his majesty, knowing that always at every moment it receiveth grace and mercy from God (b).
12 Wherefore in fear of his majesty there always resoundeth in its ear that angelic utterance- “Creatures, come to judgement, for your Creator willeth to judge you. ( [2] )” 13 For it abideth habitually ever in the service of God. 14 Tell me, whether do ye desire the more: to see by the light of a star or by the light of the sun?’
15 Andrew answered: ‘By the light of the sun; for by the light of the star we cannot see the neighbouring mountains, and by the light of the sun we see the tiniest grain of sand. 16 Wherefore we walk with fear by light of the star, but by the light of the sun we go securely.’

هو لا يرى شقاؤه في أنه ينام بالنفس التي هي رأس الحياة 10 إن نوم النفس هو نسيان الله (ا) ودينونته الرهيبة ( [3] ) 11 فالنفس التي تسهر إنما هي التي ترى الله في كل شيء وفي كل مكان وتشكر جلالته في كل شيء وعلى كل شيء وفوق كل شيء عالمة أنها دائما في كل دقيقة ( لحظة) تنال نعمة ورحمة من الله (ب) 12 فمن يرن دائما في أذنها خشية من جلالته ذلك القول الملكي : " تعالي أيتها المخلوقات للدينونة لأن إلهك يريد أن يدينك ( [4] ) " 13 فإنها تلبث على الدوام في خدمة الله 104 قولوا لي أتفضلون أن تروا بنور نجم أو بنور الشمس ؟ 15 أجاب إندراوس : بنور الشمس لا بنور النجم بنور النجم لا نقدر أن نبصر الجبال المجاورة وبنور الشمس نبصر أصغر حبوب الرمل 16 لذلك نسير بخوف على نور النجم ولكننا بنور الشمس نسير باطمئنان.
