117a
a prince giveth thee a present, O man, that thou should shut thine eyes and turn thy back upon him. 16 Even so do they err who forget God, 17 for at all times man receiveth from God gifts and mercy (a) ( [1] ).
1 ‘Now tell me, doth our God at all times grant you (c)[this bounty]? Yea, assuredly; for unceasingly he ministereth to you the breath whereby ye live ( [2] ). 3 Verily, verily, I say unto you, every time that your body receiveth breath your heart ought to say: “God be thanked! (d)( [3] )”’
4 Then said John: ‘ It is most true what thou sayest, O master; teach us therefore the way to attain to this blessed condition.’
5 Jesus answered: ‘Verily I say to you one cannot attain to such condition by human powers (e), but rather by the mercy of God our Lord (f)( [4] ). 6 It is true indeed that man ought to desire the good in order that God may give it him (g). 7 Tell me, when ye are at table do ye take those meats which ye would not so much as look at? 8 No, assuredly.

أيها الإنسان أن يهبك أمير هبة فتغمض عنه عينيك وتوليه ظهرك 16 هكذا يخطئ الذين يغفلون عن الله 17 لأن الإنسان ينال كل حين هبات ونعمة من الله (ا) ( [5] ).
1 ألا فقولوا لي ألا ينعم الله (ج) عليكم كل حين ؟ 2 بلى حقا فإنه يجود عليكم دوما بالنفس الذي به تحيون ( [6] ) 3 الحق الحق أقول لكم أنه يجب على قلبكم أن يقول كلما تنفس جسدكم :" الحمد لله " (د) ( [7] ) 4 حينئذ قال يوحنا : إن ما تقوله لهو الحق يا معلم فعلمنا الطريق لبلوغ هذه الحال السعيدة 5 أجاب يسوع : الحق أقول لك إنه لا يتاح لأحد بلوغ هذه الحال بقوى بشرية (هـ) بل برحمة الله ربنا (و) ( [8] ) 6 ومن المؤكد أنه يجب على الإنسان أن يشتهى الصالح ليهبه الله (ز) إياه 7 أتأخذون وأنتم على المائدة لحوم التي تأنفون من النظر إليها ؟ 8 لا البتة

د كلما تنفس ( تنفّست ) لزم على القلب ان يشكر الله تعلى منه
هـ الله رحمن
و الله سلطان ومعطي
ز ان تريد ان يجعل الله لك خيرا لزم عليك ان يتمع خيرا ( تطمع لخير) منه
