it is necessary that I should reveal to thee great secrets, which, after that I shall be departed from the world, thou shalt reveal to it.’
6 Then answered he that writeth, weeping, and said: ‘Suffer me to weep, O master, and other men also, for that we are sinners. 7 And thou, that art an holy one and prophet of God, it is not fitting for thee to weep so much.’
8 Jesus answered: ‘Believe me, Barnabas, that I cannot weep as much as I ought. 9 For if men had not called me God, I should have seen God here as he will be seen in paradise, and should have been safe not to fear the day of judgement ( [1] ). 10 But God knoweth that I am innocent, because never have I harboured thought to be held more than a poor slave ( [2] ). 22 Nay, I tell thee that if I had not been called God I should have been carried into paradise when I shall depart from the world, whereas now I shall not go thither until the judgement. 12 Now thou seest if I have cause to weep. 13 Know, O Barnabas, that for this I must have great persecution, and shall be sold

يجب أن أكاشفك بأسرار عظيمة يجب عليك مكاشفة العالم بها بعد انصرافي منه 6 فأجاب الكاتب باكيا وقال : اسمح لي بالبكاء يا معلم ولغيري لأننا خطاة 7 وأنت يا من هو طاهر ونبي الله لا يحسن بك أن تكثر من البكاء 8 أجاب يسوع : إنني لا أقدر أن أبكي قدر ما يجب عليّ 9 لأنه لو لم يدعني الناس إلها لكنت عاينت هنا الله كما يعاين في الجنة ولكنت أمنت خشية يوم الدين ( [3] )10 يبد أن الله يعلم إنني برئ لأنه لم يخطر لي في بال أن أحسب أكثر من عبد فقير ([4] ) 11 بل أقول لك إنني لو لم أدع إلها لكنت حملت إلى الجنة عندما انصرف إلى العالم أما الآن فلا أذهب إلى هناك حتى الدينونة 12 فترى إذاً إذا كان يحق لي البكاء 13 فاعلم يا برنابا أنه لأجل هذا يجب علي التحفظ وسيبيعني
