by one of my disciples for thirty pieces of money ( [1] ). 14 Whereupon I am sure that he who shall sell me shall be slain in my name, 15 for that God shall take me up from the earth (a), and shall change the appearance of the traitor so that every one shall believe him to be me; ( [2] )16 nevertheless, when he dieth an evil death, I shall abide in that dishonour for a long time in the world. 17 But when Mohammed shall come, the sacred messenger of God (b), that infamy shall be taken away ( [3] ). 18 And this shall God do because I have confessed the truth of the Messiah; who shall give me this reward, that I shall be known to be alive and to be a stranger to that death of infamy.’

19 Then answered he that writeth: ‘O master, tell me who is that wretch, for I fain would choke him to death.’

20 ‘Hold thy peace’, answered Jesus, ‘for so God willeth, and he cannot do otherwise (c)( [4] ( :21 but see thou that when my mother is afflicted at such an event thou tell her truth, in order that she may be comforted.’

22 Then answered he who writeth: ‘All this will I do, O master, if God please (d).

أحد تلاميذي بثلاثين قطعة من النقود ( [5] ) 14 وعليه فإني على يقين من أن من يبيعني يقتل باسمي 15 لأن الله سيصعدني من الأرض (ا) وسيغير منظر الخائن حتى يظنه كل أحد إياي ( [6] ) 16 ومع ذلك فإنه لما يموت شر ميتة أمكث في ذلك العار زمنا طويلا في العالم 17 ولكني متى جاء محمد رسول الله (ب) المقدس تزال عني هذه الوصمة ( [7] ) 18 وسيفعل الله هذا لأني اعترفت بحقيقة مسيا الذي سيعطيني هذا الجزاء أي أن أعرف أني حي وإني برئ من وصمة تلك الميتة 19 فأجاب من يكتب : يا معلم قل لي من هو ذلك التعيس لأني وددت لو أميته خنقا 20 أجاب يسوع : صه فإن الله هكذا يريد فهو لا يقدر أن يفعل ( فلا يمكن أن يحدث ) (ج)( [8] ) غير ذلك ولكن متى حلت هذه النازلة بأمي فقل لها الحق لكي تتعزى 22 حينئذ أجاب من يكتب : إني لفاعل ذلك يا معلم إن شاء الله (د).
