14 Believe me, when a man loveth a thing, not because God hath given him such thing, but as its owner, he is a fornicator; 15 for that the soul, which ought to abide in union with God its creator (a), he hath united with the creature 16 And so God lamenteth by Isaiah the prophet ( [1] ), saying: Thou hast committed fornication with many lovers; nevertheless, return unto me and I will receive thee.
17 As God liveth (b) in whose presence my soul standeth, if there were not internal lust within the heart of man, he would not fall into the external; for if the root be removed the tree dieth speedily.
18 Let a man content himself therefore with the wife whom his creator hath given him. And let him forget every other woman.
19 Andrew answered: How shall a man forget the women if he live in the city where there are so many of them?
20 Jesus replied: O Andrew, certain it is he who liveth in the city, it will do him harm; seeing that the city is a sponge that draweth in every iniquity.

14 صدقوني متى أحب الإنسان شيئا لا من حيث أن الله أعطاه هذا الشيء فهو زان 15 لأنه جعل النفس متحدة بالمخلوق وهي التي يجب أن تبقى متحدة بالله خالقها (ا)16 ولهذا قال الله نادبا على لسان إشعيا ( [2] ) النبي : " إنك قد زنيت بعشاق كثيرين لكن ارجعي إلي أقبلك " 17 لعمر الله (ب) الذي تقف نفسي في حضرته لو لم تكن في قلب الإنسان شهوة داخلية لما سقط في الخارجية لأنه إذا اقتلع الجذر ماتت الشجرة سريعا 18 فليقنع الرجل إذا بالمرأة التي أعطاه إياها خالقه ولينس كل امرأة أخرى 19 أجاب اندراوس : كيف ينسى الإنسان النساء إذا عاش في المدينة حيث يوجد كثيرات منهن فيها ؟ 20 أجاب يسوع : يا اندراوس حقا أن السكنى في المدينة تضر لأن المدينة كالإسفنج تمتص كل إثم .
