8 Then Elijah rebuked him, saying: “Cease from weeping O man, for in weeping thou sinnest.”
9 The blind man answered: “Now tell me, is it a sin to see holy prophet of God, that raiseth the dead ( [1] ) and maketh the fire to come down from heaven( [2] )?”
10 Elijah answered: “ Thou speakest not the truth, for Elijah is not able to do anything of all that thou sayest, because he is a man as thou art. For all the men in the world cannot make one fly to be born ( [3] ).”
11 Said the blind man: “Thou sayest this, O man, because Elijah must have rebuked thee for some sin of thine, wherefore thou hatest him.”
12 ‘Elijah answered: “May it please God that thou be speaking the truth; because, O brother, if I should hate Elijah I should love God, and the more I should hate Elijah the more I should love God.”
13 ‘Hereupon was the blind man greatly angered, and said: “As God liveth (a), thou art an impious fellow! Can God then be loved while one hateth the prophets of God? begone forthwith, for I will not listen to thee any longer!”
14 ‘Elijah answered: “Brother now mayest thou see with thine intellect how evil is bodily seeing. For thou desirest sight to

8 فوبخه إيليا قائلا : " كف عن بكائك أيها الرجل لأنك ببكائك تخطئ "9أجاب الضرير : " ألا فقل لي أ رؤية نبي الله الذي يقيم الموتى ( [4] ) وينزل نارا من السماء ( [5] ) خطيئة ؟ " 10 أجاب ايليا : "إنك لا تقول الصدق لأن ايليا لا يقدر أن يأتي شيئا مما قلت على الإطلاق فإنه رجل نظيرك لأن أهل العالم بأسرهم لا يقدرون أن يخلقوا ذبابة واحدة ( [6] ) " 11 فقال الضرير : " إنك تقول هذا أيها الرجل لأنه لا بد أن يكون قد وبخك إيليا على بعض خطاياك فلذلك تكرهه "12 أجاب إيليا : "عسى أن تكون قد نطقت بالحق لأني لو أبغضت إيليا أيها الأخ لأحببت الله وكلما زدت بغضا لإيليا زدت حبا في الله" 13 فاغتاظ الضرير لذلك غيظا شديدا وقال : " لعمر الله (ا) إنك لفاجر أيمكن لأحد أن يحب الله وهو يكره نبي الله انصرف من هنا لأني لست بمصغ إليك فيما بعد " 14 أجاب ايليا : " أيها الأخ إنك لترى بعقلك شدة شر البصر الجسدي لأنك تتمنى بصرا
