15 ‘The blind man answered: “Now begone ! for thou art the devil, that wouldst make me sin against the holy one of God.”
16 ‘Then Elijah gave a sigh and said with tears: “Thou hast spoken the truth, O brother, for my flesh, which thou desirest to see, separateth thee from God”
17 Said the blind man: “I do not wish to see thee; nay, if I had my eyes, I would close them so as not to see thee?”
18 ‘Then said Elijah: “know, brother, that I am Elijah!”
19 ‘The blind man answered: “Thou speakest not the truth.”
20 Then said the disciples of Elijah: “Brother, he verily is the prophet of God, Elijah.”
21 “let him tell me”, said the blind man, “if he be the prophet, of what seed I am, and how I became blind?’
1 ‘Elijah answered: “Thou art of the tribe of Levi; and because thou, in entering the temple of God, lookedst ( [1] ) lewdly upon a woman, thou being near the sanctuary, our God took away thy sight.”

لتبصر إيليا وأنت تبغض إيليا بنفسك “ 15 فأجب الضرير : “ ألا فانصرف لأنك أنت الشيطان الذي يريد أن يجعلني أخطئ إلى قدوس الله " 16 فتنهد حينئذ إيليا وقال بدموع : " إنك لقد قلت الصدق أيها الأخ لأني جسدي الذي تريد أن تراه يفصلني عن الله " 17 فقال الضرير : " إني لا أود أن أراك بل لو كان لي عينان لأغمضتهما لكي لا أراك " 18 حينئذ قال إيليا " اعلم أيها الأخ إني أنا إيليا " 19 أجاب الضرير: " إنك لا تقول الصدق "20 حينئذ قال تلاميذ إيليا : " أيها الأخ إنه إيليا نبي الله بعينه " 21 فقال الضرير : " إذا كان النبي فليقل لي من أي ذرية أنا وكيف صرت ضريرا ؟"
أجاب إيليا : " إنك من سبط لاوي ولأنك نظرت وأنت داخل هيكل الله إلى امرأة ( [2] ) بشهوة على مقربة من المقدس أزال إلهنا بصرك " 2 فقال حينئذ الضرير باكيا : " اغفر لي يا نبي الله الطاهر لأني
