were not also a precept of God. 10 for in every idle word ( [1] ) man sinneth, and our God blotteth out sin (a) by reason of prayer. 11 For that prayer is the advocate of the soul; 12 prayer is the medicine of the soul; 13 prayer is the defence of the heart; 14 prayer is the weapon of faith, 15 prayer is the bridle of sense; 16 prayer is the salt of the flesh that suffereth it not to be corrupted by sin. 17 I tell you that prayer is the hands of our life, whereby the man that prayeth shall defend himself in the day of judgement: 18 for he shall keep his soul from sin here on earth, and shall preserve his heart that it be not touched by evil desires ( [2] ); offending Satan because he shall keep his sense within the law of God, and his flesh shall walk in righteousness, receiving from God all that he shall ask.
19 As God liveth (b) in whose presence we are, a man without prayer can no more be a man of good works than a dumb man can

لم يكن وصية من الله 10 لأن الإنسان يخطئ في كل كلمة قبيحة ( [3] ) ويمحو إلهنا خطيئته (ا) بالصلاة 11 لأن الصلاة هي شفيع النفس 12 الصلاة هي دواء النفس 13 الصلاة هي صيانة القلب 14 الصلاة هي سلاح الإيمان 15 الصلاة هي لجام الحس 16 الصلاة هي ملح الجسد الذي لا يسمح بفساده بالخطيئة 17 أقول لكم أن الصلاة هي يدا حياتنا اللتان يدافع بهما المصلي عن نفسه في يوم الدين 18 فإنه يحفظ نفسه من الخطيئة هنا على الأرض ويحفظ قلبه حتى لا تمسه الأماني الشريرة ( [4] ) مغضبا للشيطان لأنه يحفظ حسه ضِمن شريعة الله ويسلك جسده في البر نائلا من الله كل ما يطلب 19 لعمر الله (ب) الذي نحن في حضرته إن الإنسان بدون صلاة لا يقدر أن يكون رجلا ذا أعمال صالحة أكثر مما يقدر أخرس على
