plead his cause to a blind one; than fistula can be healed without
unguent; a man defend himself without movement; or attack another without weapons,sail without rudder, or preserve dead flesh without salt. 20 For verily he who hath no hand cannot receive. 21 If man could change dung into gold and clay into sugar, what would he do?’
22 Then, Jesus being silent, the disciples answered: ‘No one would exercise himself in any way other than in making gold and sugar.’
23 Then said Jesus: ‘Now why doth not man change foolish story- telling into prayer ( [1] )? 24 Is time, perchance, given him by God (a) that he may offend God? 25 For what prince would give a city to his subject in order that the latter might make war upon him? 26 As God liveth (b), if man knew after what manner the soul is transformed by vain talking he would sooner bite off his tongue with his teeth than talk. 27 O wretched world! For today men do not assemble together for

الاحتجاج عن نفسه أمام ضرير أو أكثر من إمكان برء ناسور بدون مرهم أو مدافعة رجل عن نفسه بدون حركة أو مهاجمة آخر بدون سلاح أو إقلاع في سفينته بدون دفة أو حفظ اللحوم الميتة بدون ملح 20 فإن من المؤكد أن من ليس له يدان لا يقدر أن يأخذ 21 فإذا تمكن المرء من تحويل السرقين إلى ذهب أو الطين على سكر فماذا يفعل ؟ 22 فلما سكت يسوع أجاب التلاميذ : لا يتعاطى أحد عملا آخر سوى صنع الذهب والسكر 23 حينئذ قال يسوع ألا فلماذا لا يحول المرء الثرثرة إلى صلاة ( [2] ) ؟ 24 أ أعطاه الله (ا) الوقت لكي يغضب الله ؟ 25 أي متبوع يهب تابعه مدينة لكي يثير هذا حربا 26 لعمر الله (ب) لو علم المرء إلى أي صورة تتحول النفس بالكلام الباطل لفضل عض لسانه بأسنانه على التكلم 27 ما أتعس العالم لأن الناس لا يجتمعون اليوم
