that is contrary to these three heads do thou avoid, because it is most evil.
1 ‘I will return now to avarice: 2 and I tell you that when the sense would fain acquire a thing or tenaciously keep it, reason must say: “Such a thing will have its end.” 3 It is certain that if it will have an end it is madness ( [1] ) to love it. 4 Wherefore it behoves one to love and to keep that which will not have an end ( [2] ).
5 ‘Let avarice then be changed into alms, distributing rightly what [a man] hath acquired wrongly.
6 ‘And let him see to it that what the right hand shall give the left hand shall not know (b). 7 Because the hypocrites when they do alms desire to be seen and praised of the world ( [3] ). But verily they are vain, seeing that for whom a man works from him doth he receive his wages (c) 8 If, then, a man would receive anything of God, it behoveth him to serve God ( [4] ).
9 And see that when ye do alms, ye consider that

مضاد لهذه الرؤوس الثلاثة أنه شرير جدا ؟
1 وإني لأعود الآن إلى البخل 2 فأفيدكم أنه متى أراد الحس الحصول على شيء أو حرص عليه يجب أن يقول العقل : لا بد من نهاية لهذا الشيء 3 ومن المؤكد أنه إذا كان له نهاية فمن الجنون أن يحب ( [5] ) 4 لذلك وجب على الإنسان أن يحب ويحرص على ما لا نهاية له ( [6] ) 5 فليتحول بخل الإنسان إذاً إلى صدقة موزعا بالعدل ما أخذه بالظلم 6 وليكن على انتباه حتى لا تعرف (ب) اليد اليسرى ما تفعله اليد اليمنى 7 لأن المرائين إذا تصدقوا يحبون أن ينظر لهم ويمدحهم العالم ( [7] ) ولكن الحق أنهم مغررون لأن من يشتغل لإنسان فمنه يأخذ أجره (ج) 8 فإذا نال إنسان شيئا من الله وجب عليه أن يخدم الله ( [8] ) 9 وتوخوا متى تصدقتم أن تحسوا

ب اذا ارديتم ( أردتم ) أن تصدقوا ادّيتم بيدكم اليمنى ولا يسمع (تحس ) يدكم اليسرى منه
ج لمن فعلتم اجركم عليه منه
