as this publican; for I fast twice in the week and give tithes ( [1] ) of all I possess.”
14 The publican remained afar off, bowed to the earth, 15 and beating his breast he said with bent head: “Lord, I am not worthy to look upon the heaven nor upon thy sanctuary, for I have sinned much; have mercy upon me!”
16 ‘Verily I say unto you, the publican went down from the temple in better case than the Pharisee, for that our God justified him (a), forgiving him all his sin. 17 But the Pharisee went down in worse case than the publican, 18 because our God rejected him, having his works in abomination.’

1 ‘Shall the axe ( [2] ), perchance, boast itself at having cut down the forest where a man hath made a garden? 2 Nay, assuredly, for the man hath done all, yea and [made] the axe, with his hands.
3 And thou, O man, shalt thou boast thyself

هذه العشار خصوصا لأني أصوم مرتين في الأسبوع وأعشِّر كل ما أقتنيه ( [3] )" 14 أما العشار فلبث واقفا على بعد منحنيا إلى الأرض 15 وقال مطرقا برأسه قارعا صدره : " يا رب إنني لست أهلا أن أتطلع إلى السماء ولا إلى مقدسك لأني أخطأت كثيرا فارحمني " 16 الحق أقول لكم أن العشار نزل الهيكل أفضل من الفريسي لأن إلهنا برره (أنصفه )(ا) غافرا له خطاياه كلها 17 أما الفريسي نزل وهو على حال أردأ من العشار 18 لأن إلهنا رفضه ماقتا أعماله .
1 أتفتخر الفأس مثلا ( [4] )لأنها قطعت حرجة حيث صنع إنسان بستانا؟ 2 لا البتة لأن الإنسان صنع بيديه حتى الفأس 3 وأنت أيها الإنسان أتفتخر
