account himself, as in truth he is, unworthly to stand in the world at God’s board. 22 As God liveth (a), in whose presence my Soul standeth, there is nothing so small received here in the world from [the hand of] God (b), but that in return man ought to spend his life for love of God.
23 ‘As God liveth (a), thou sinnedst not, O John, in eating with Herod, for it was of God’s disposition thou didst so in order that thou mightest be our teacher and [the teacher] of every one that feareth God. 24 So do’ said Jesus to his disciples, that ye may live in the world as John lived in the house of Herod when he ate bread with him, 25 for so shall ye be in truth free from all pride.’

1 Jesus walking along the sea of Galilee was surrounded by a great multitude of folk, wherefore he went into a little boat ( [1] )2 which lay a little off from the shore by itself, and anchored so near the land that the voice of Jesus might be heard.

أن يحسب نفسه كما هو في الحقيقة غير أهل أن يقف في العالم على مائدة الله 22 لعمر الله (ا) الذي تقف نفسي في حضرته أنه مهما كان الشيء الذي يناله الإنسان من الله في العالم صغيرا (ب) فإنه يجب عليه في مقابلته أن يصرف حياته حبا في الله 23 لعمر الله (ا) إنك لم تخطئ يا يوحنا لأنك واكلت ( أكلت مع ) هيرودس فإنك فعلت ذلك بتدبير الله لتكون معلمنا نحن وكل من يخشى الله 24 ثم قال يسوع لتلاميذه : هكذا افعلوا لتعيشوا في العالم كما عاش يوحنا في بيت هيرودس عندما أكل خبزا معه 25 لأنكم هكذا تكونون بالحق خالين من كل كبرياء .
1 ولما كان يسوع ماشيا على شاطئ بحر الجليل أحاط به جمهور غفير من الناس 2 فركب سفينة ( [2] ) صغيرة منفردة كانت على بعد قليل من الشاطئ فرَست على مقربة من البر بحيث يمكن سماع صوت يسوع
