a citizen hath a fountain, from which all the neighbouring citizens take water to wash off their uncleanness; 24 but the citizen suffereth his own clothes to putrefy.’
25 Again Jesus said: ‘There went forth two men to sell apples. The one chose to sell the peel of the apple for its weight in gold, caring nought for the substance of the apples. 26 The other desired to give the apples away, receiving only a little bread for his journey. 27 But men bought the peel of the apples for its weight in gold, caring nought for him who was fain to give them, nay even despising him.’
28 And thus on that day Jesus spake to the crowd in parables. 29 Then having dismissed them, he went with his disciples to Nain, where he had raised to life the widow’s son; who, with his mother, received him into his house and ministered unto him.

1 His disciples drew nigh to Jesus and asked him ( [1] ), saying: ‘O Master, tell us the meaning of the parables which thou spakest unto the people.’
2 Jesus answered:

ها هوذا ينبوع لأحد الأهالي يأخذ منه الجيران ماء ليزيلوا به وسخهم 24 ولكن صاحب الماء يترك ثيابه تنتن 25 وقال يسوع أيضا : ذهبا رجلان ليبيعا تفاحا فأراد أحدهما أن يبيع قشر التفاح بزنته ذهبا غير مبال بجوهر التفاح 26 أما الآخر فأحب أن يهب التفاح ويأخذ قليلا من الخبز لسفره فقط 27 ولكن الناس اشتروا قشر التفاح بزنته ذهبا ولم يبالوا بالذي أحب أن يهبهم بل احتقروه 28 وهكذا كلم يسوع الجمع في ذلك اليوم بالأمثال 29 وبعد أن صرفهم ذهب مع تلاميذه إلى نايين حيث أقام ابن الأرملة الذي قَبِله وأمه إلى بيته وخدمَه.
1 فاقترب تلاميذ يسوع منه وسألوه ( [2] ) قائلين : يا معلم قل لنا معنى الأمثال التي كلمتها بها الشعب 2 أجاب يسوع :
