this hope, because their torment cannot have an end, 4 seeing that they were not willing for the love of God to put an end to their sin.

5 ‘But the faithful shall have comfort, because their torment shall have an end.’

6 The disciples were affrighted, hearing this, and said: ‘So then the faithful must go into hell?’

7 Jesus answered: ‘Every one, be he who he may, must go into hell. 8 it is true, however, that the holy ones and prophets of God shall go there to behold, not suffering any punishment; 9 and the righteous, only suffering fear. 10 And what shall I say? I tell you that thither shall come [even] the messenger of God (a), to behold the justice of God (b). 11 Thereupon hell shall tremble at his presence.

12 And because he hath human flesh, all those that have human flesh and shall be under punishment, so long as the messenger of God (a) shall abide to behold hell, so long shall they abide without punishment. 13 But he shall abide there [only] so long as it taketh to shut and open the eyes.’

هذا الأمل إذ ليس لعذابهم من نهاية 4 لأنهم لم يريدوا أن يضعوا حدا لخطيئتهم حبا في الله ( [1] ) 5 أما المؤمنون فسيكون لهم تعزية لأن لعذابهم نهاية 6 فذعر التلاميذ لما سمعوا هذا وقالوا : أيذهب إذا المؤمنون إلى الجحيم ؟ 7 أجاب يسوع : يتحتم على كل أحد أيا كان أن يذهب إلى الجحيم 8 بيد أن مالا مشاحة فيه أن الأطهار وأنبياء الله إنما يذهبون إلى هناك ليشاهدوا لا ليكابدوا عقابا ( [2] ) 9 أما الأبرار فإنهم لا يكابدون إلا الخوف ( [3] )10 وماذا أقول ؟ أفيدكم أنه حتى رسول الله (ا) يذهب إلى هناك ليشاهد عدل الله (ب) 11 فترتعد ثمة الجحيم لحضوره 12 وبما إنه ذو جسد بشري يرفع العقاب عن كل ذي جسد بشري من المقضي عليهم بالعقاب فيمكث بلا مكابدة عقاب مدة إقامة رسول الله (ا) لمشاهدة الجحيم 13 ولكنه لا يقيم هناك إلا طرفة عين
