even so ought ye to become new men

even so ought ye to become new men, if ye will contain the new doctrine that shall come out of my mouth. 5 Verily I say unto you, that even as a man cannot see with his eyes the heaven and the earth at one and the same time, so it is impossible to love God and the world (a) 6 ‘No man can in any wise serve two masters ( [1] )that are at enmity one with the other (b); for if the one shall love you, the other will hate you. 7 Even so I tell you in truth that ye cannot serve God and the world, 8 for the world lieth in falsehood, covetousness, and malignity ([2] ). 9 Ye cannot therefore find rest in the world, but rather persecution and loss. 10 Wherefore serve God ( [3] ) and despise the world, 11 for from me ye shall find rest for your souls ([4] ). 12 Hear my words, for I speak unto you in truth.

13 ‘Verily, blessed are they that mourn this earthly life, for they shall be comforted ( [5] ).

14 ‘Blessed are the poor ( [6] ) who truly hate the delights of the world, for they shall abound in the delights of the kingdom of God.

a For instance mankind has two eyes, but cannot look at heavens and the earth at one and the same time, so it is not possible to combine the love of God with the love of the world at one and the same time. inde.

b It is not possible that a slave can serve two masters who are enemies one another , therefore it is not possible for a servant ( man ) to serve the world and God. inde.

هكذا يترتب عليكم أن تكونوا رجالا جددا إذا أردتم أن تعوا التعاليم الجديدة التي ستخرج من فمي 5 الحق أقول لكم كما أنه لا يتأتى للإنسان أن ينظر بعينه (بعينيه ) السماء والأرض معا في وقت واحد فكذلك يستحيل عليه أن يحب الله والعالم (ا).

6 لا يقدر رجل أبدا أن يخدم سيدين ( [8] ) أحدهما عدو للآخرين (للآخر ) (ب) لأنه إذا أحبك أحدهما أبغضك الآخر 7 فكذلك أقول لكم حقا أنكم لا تقدرون أن تخدموا الله والعالم 8 لأن العالم موضوع في النفاق والجشع والخبث ( [9] ) 9 لذلك لا تجدون راحة في العالم بل تجدون بدلا منها اضطهادا وخسارة 10 لذا فاعبدوا الله ( [10] ) واحتقروا العالم 11 إذ مني تجدون راحة لنفوسكم ( [11] ) 12 أصيخوا السمع لكلامي لأني أكلمكم بالحق 13 طوبى للذين ينوحون في هذه الحياة لأنهم يتعزون ( [12] ) 14 طوبى للمساكين ( [13] ) الذين يعرضون حقا عن ملاذ العالم لأنهم سيتنعمون بملاذ ملكوت الله 15 طوبى للذين يأكلون على مائدة الله ( [14] )

ا مثلا فيبني ادم عينان لكن لا يمكن ان ينضر الي السماء والارض في حالة واحدة وكذلك لا يمكن ان يجمع محبت الله ومحبت الدنيا في حالة واحدة منه ( مثلا لبني آدم عينان لكن لا يمكنه أن ينظر إلى السماء والأرض في ذات الحال وكذلك لا يمكن أن يجمع محبة الله ومحبة الدنيا في ذات الحال منه )

ب لا يمكن ان يخدم العبد لسيدين عدوين احدهما لآخر وكذلك لا يمكن ان يخدم العبد الدّنيا والله تعلى منه ( لا يمكن أن يخدم العبد سيدين عدوين بعضهما للآخر ...)
