shall these little ones fare? And they showed him the multitude of their children. 8 Then Jesus had compassion on their misery, and said: ‘How long is it until harvest? 9 They answered: ‘Twenty days.’
10 Then said Jesus: ‘See that for these twenty days we give ourselves to fasting and prayer; for God will have mercy upon you (a). 11 Verily I say unto you, God hath caused this dearth because here began the madness of men and the sin of Israel when they said that I was God, or Son of God.’
12 When they had fasted for nineteen days, on the morning of the twentieth day, they beheld the fields and hills covered with ripe corn. 13 Thereupon they ran to Jesus, and recounted all to him.And when he had heard it Jesus gave thanks to God, and said: ‘Go, brethren, gather the bread which God hath given you (b).’
15 The men gathered so much corn that they knew not where to store it; 16 and this thing was cause of plenty in Israel.
17 The citizens took council to set up Jesus as their king; 18 knowing which

يصيب هؤلاء الصغار ؟ ثم أروه جمهور أطفالهم 8 حينئذ تحنن يسوع على شقائهم وقال : كم بقى للحصاد ؟ 9 فأجابوا عشرون يوما 10 فقال يسوع : يجب أن ننقطع مدة هذه العشرين يوما للصوم والصلاة لأن الله سيرحمكم (ا) 1لحق أقول لكم أن الله قد أحدث هذا القحط لأنه ابتدأ هنا جنون الناس وخطيئة إسرائيل إذ قالوا إنني أنا الله وابن الله 12 وبعد أن صاموا تسعة عشر يوما شاهدوا في صباح اليوم العشرين الحقول والهضاب مغطاة بالحنطة اليابسة 13 فأسرعوا إلى يسوع وقصوا عليه كل شيء 14 فلما سمع يسوع ذلك شكر الله وقال : اذهبوا أيها الاخوة واجمعوا الخبز الذي أعطاكم إياه الله (ب) 15 فجمع القوم مقدارا وافرا من الحنطة حتى إنهم لم يعرفوا أين يضعوه 16 وكان ذلك سبب سعة في إسرائيل 17 فتشاور الأهالي لينصبوا يسوع ملكا عليهم 18 فلما عرف ذلك
