shall take me out of the world.( [1] )’
10 The three disciples were afraid; 11 but Jesus comforted them saying: ‘Be not afraid, for none of you shall betray me.’ Whereat they received somewhat of consolation.
12 The day following there came, two by two, thirty-six of Jesus’ disciples; and he abode in Damascus awaiting the others. 14 And they mourned every one, for that they knew that Jesus must depart from the world. 15 Wherefore he opened his mouth and said: ‘Unhappy of a surety is he who walketh without knowing whither he goeth; 16 but more unhappy is he who is able and knoweth how to reach a good hostelry, yet desireth and willeth to abide on the miry road, in the rain, and in peril of robbers. 17 Tell me, brethren, is this world our native country? Surely not, seeing that the first Man was cast out into the world as to exile; 18 and therein he suffereth the punishment of his error. 19 Shall there perchance be found an exile who aspireth not to return to his own rich country when he findeth himself in poverty? 20 Assuredly reason denieth it, but experience proveth it, 21 because the

وسينقلني من العالم ( [2] ) 10 فخاف التلاميذ الثلاثة 11 ولكن يسوع عزاهم قائلا لا تخافوا لأنه لا يسلمني أحد منكم فكان لهم بهذا شيء من العزاء 12 وجاء في اليوم التالي ستة وثلاثون تلميذا من تلاميذ يسوع مثنى مثنى 13 ومكث في دمشق ينتظر الباقين 14 وحزن كل منهم لأنهم عرفوا أن يسوع سينصرف من العالم 15 لذلك فتح فاه وقال : أن من يسير دون أن يعلم إلى أين يذهب لهو تعيس 16 وأتعس منه من هو قادر ويعرف كيف يبلغ نزلا حسنا ومع ذلك يريد أن يمكث في الطريق القذرة والمطر وخطر اللصوص 17 قولوا لي أيها الاخوة هل هذا العالم وطننا ؟ لا البتة فإن الإنسان الأول طرد إلى العالم منفيا 18 فهو يكابد فيه عقوبة خطأه 19 أيمكن أن يوجد منفى لا يبالي بالعودة إلى وطنه الغني وقد وجد نفسه في الفاقة ؟ 20 حقا أن العقل لينكر ذلك ولكن الاختيار يثبته بالبرهان 21 لأن
