before he cutteth it; and when it is cut he seweth it with care. 18 But his life which is born to die ( [1] ), insomuch that he alone dieth not who is not born ( [2] ) _ wherefore will not men measure their life, by death?
19 Have ye seen them that build, how for every stone that they lay they have the foundation in view, measuring if it be straight, that the wall fall not down? 20 O wretched man! For with greatest ruin shall fall the building of his life, because he looketh not to the foundation of death!

1 Tell me, when a man is born, how is he born? 2 Surely, he is born naked ( [3] ). 3 And when he is laid dead beneath the ground, what advantage hath he? 4 A mean linen cloth, wherein he is wound: and this is the reward which the world giveth him ( [4] ).
5 ‘Now if the means in every work must needs be proportionate to the beginning and the end, in order that the work be brought to a good end,

قبل تفصيله ومتى فصله خاطه باعتناء 18 أما حياته التي ولدت لتموت ( [5] ) – إذ لا يموت إلا من يولد ( [6] ) - فلماذا لا يقيسها الإنسان بالموت ؟ 19 أ رأيتم البنائين كيف لا يضعون حجرا إلا والأساس نصب عيونهم فيقيسونه ليروا إذا كان مستقيما لكيلا يسقط الجدار ؟ 20 ياله من رجل تعيس لأن بنيان حياته سيتهدم شر تهدم لأنه لا ينظر إلى أساس الموت .
الفصل الحادي والأربعون بعد المائة (ا)
1 قولوا لي كيف يولد الإنسان متى ولد ؟ 2 حقا إنه ولد عريانا ([7] ) 3 وأي جدوى متى وسِّد ميتا تحت الثري ؟ 4 ليس سوى خرقة يلف بها وهذا هو الجزاء الذي يعطيه إياه العالم ( [8]) 5 فإذا كان يجب في كل عمل أن تكون الوسيلة على نسبة البداية والنهاية ليمكن إيصال العمل إلى نهاية حسنة
