that desire to walk with God their creator (a), writeth this. 13 Whoso desireth to learn much, they (sic) fear God little, 14 because he who feareth God is content to know only that which God willeth.
15 “They that seek fair words seek not God, who doth naught but reprove our sins ( [1] ).
16 They that desire to seek God, let them shut fast the doors and windows of their house, 17 for the master suffereth not himself to be found outside his house, [in a place] where he is not loved. 18 Guard therefore your senses and guard your heart, because God is not found outside of us, in this world wherein he is hated.
19 “They that wish to do good works, let them attend to their own selves, for it booteth not to gain the whole world and lose one’s own soul ( [2] ).
20 “They that wish to teach others, let them live better than others, because nothing can be learned from him who knoweth less than ourselves ( [3] ). 21 How, then shall the sinner amend his life when he heareth one worse than he teaching him?
22 They that seek God, let him (sic) flee the conversation of men; 23 because Moses being alone upon mount Sinai found him and spake

يبتغون أن يسيروا مع الله خالقهم (ا) 13 إن من يحب أن يتعلم كثيرا يخاف الله قليلا 14 لأن من يخاف الله يقنع بأن يعرف ما يريده الله فقط 15 إن من يطلب كلاما مزوّقا لا يطلب الله الذي لا يفعل إلا توبيخ خطايانا ( [4] ) 16 على من يشتهون أن يطلبوا الله أن يحكموا أقفال أبواب بيتهم وشبابيكه 17 لأن السيد لا يرضى أن يوجد خارج بيته حيث لا يحب 18 فاحرسوا مشاعركم واحرسوا قلبكم لأن الله لا يوجد خارجا عنا في هذا العالم الذي يكرهه 19 على من يريدون أن يعملوا أعمالا صالحة أن يلاحظوا أنفسهم لأنه لا يجدي المرء نفعا أن يربح كل العالم ويخسر نفسه ( [5] ) 20 على من يريدون تعليم الآخرين أن يعيشوا أفضل من الآخرين لأنه لا يستفاد شئ ممن يعرف أقل منا نحن 21 فكيف إذا يصلح الخاطئ حياته وهو يسمع من هو شر منه يعلمه ( [6] ) 22 على من يطلبون الله أن يهرب من محادثة البشر 23 لأن موسى لما كان وحده على جبل سينا وجد الله وكلم
