24 “They that seek God, once only in thirty days shall they come forth where be men of the world; 25 for in one day can be done works for two years in respect of the business of him that seeketh God.
26 “When he walketh, let him not look save at his own feet.
27 “When he speaketh, let him not speak save that which is necessary ( [2] ).
28 “When they eat, let them rise from the table still hungry; 29 thinking every day not to attain to the next ( [3] ); 30 spending their time as one draweth his breath.
31 “Let one garment ( [4] ), of the skin of beasts, suffice.
32 “Let the lump of earth sleep on the naked earth; 33 for every night let two hours of sleep suffice ( [5] ).
34 “Let him hate no one save himself; condemn no one save himself.
35 “In prayer, let them stand in such fear as if they were at the judgement to come ( [6] ).
36 “Now do this in the service of God, with the law that God hath given you through Moses, 37 for in such wise shall ye find God 38 that in every time and place ye shall feel that ye are in God and God in you ( [7] ).”
39 ‘This is the little book of Elijah, O Pharisees, wherefore
كما يكلم الخليل خليله ( [8] ) 24 على من يطلبون الله أن يخرجوا مرة كل ثلاثين يوما إلى حيث يكون أهل العالم 25 لأنه يمكن أن يعمل في يوم واحد أعمال سنتين من خصوص شغل الذي يطلب الله 26 عليه متى تكلم أن لا ينظر إلا إلى قدميه 27 عليه متى تكلم أن لا يقول إلا ما كان ضروريا ( [9] ) 28 عليهم متى أكلوا أن يقوموا عن المائدة وهم دون الشبع 29 مفكرين كل يوم أنهم لا يبلغون اليوم التالي ( [10] ) 30 وصارفين وقتهم كما يتنفس المرء 31 ليكن ثوب واحد ( [11] ) من جلد الحيوانات كافيا 32 على كتلة التراب أن تنام على الأديم 33 ليكفي كل ليلة ساعتان من النوم ( [12] ) 34 عليه أن لا يبغض أحدا إلا نفسه 35 عليهم أن يكونوا واقفين أثناء الصلاة بخوف كأنهم أمام الدينونة الآتية ( [13] ) 36 وافعلوا إذا هذا في خدمة الله مع الشريعة التي أعطاكم إياها الله على يد موسى 37 لأنه بهذه الطريقة تجدون الله 38 وأنكم ستشعرون في كل زمان ومكان أنكم في الله وأن الله فيكم ( [14] ) 39 هذا كتيب ايليا أيها الفريسيون لذلك
