20 Jesus answered: ‘there are written in the prophets many parables, wherefore thou oughtest not to attend to the letter, but to the sense ( [1] ). 21 For all the prophets that are one hundred and forty-four thousand, whom God hath sent (a) into the world ( [2] ) have spoken darkly. 22 But after me shall come the Splendour of all the prophets and holy ones (b) , and shall shed light upon the darkness of all that the prophets have said, 23 because he is the messenger of God.’ (c) 24 And having said this, Jesus sighed and said: 25 ‘have mercy on Israel, O Lord God (d); and look with pity upon Abraham and upon his seed, in order that they may serve thee with truth of heart.
26 His disciples answered: ‘So be it, O lord our God!(e)’
27 Jesus said: ‘verily I say unto you, the scribes and doctors have made void the law of God ( [3] ) with their false prophecies (f) , contrary to the prophecies of the true prophets of God (g); 28 wherefore God is wroth with the house of Israel and with this faithless generation. 29 His disciples wept at these words, and said: ‘Have mercy O God (h) ( [4] )have mercy upon the temple and upon the holy city and give it not into contempt of the nations that

فكيف لا يكون له بنون ؟20 أجاب يسوع : إنه في الأنبياء مكتوب أمثال كثيرة لا يجب أن تأخذها بالحرف بل بالمعنى ( [5] )21 لأن كل الأنبياء البالغين مائة وأربعة وأربعين ألفا الذين أرسلهم الله (ا)إلى العالم ( [6] )قد تكلموا بالمعميات بظلام 22 ولكن سيأتي بعدي بهاء كل الأنبياء والأطهار (ب) فيشرق نورا على ظلمات سائر ما قال الأنبياء 23 لأنه رسول الله (ج) 24 ولما قال هذا تنهد يسوع وقال :25 ارأف بإسرائيل أيها الرب الإله (د) وانظر بشفقة على إبراهيم وعلى ذريته لكي يخدموك بإخلاص قلب 26 فأجاب تلاميذه : ليكن كذلك أيها الرب الإله (هـ )27 وقال يسوع :الحق أقول لكم أن الكتبة والعلماء قد أبطلوا شريعة ( [7] ) الله بنبواتهم (و) الكاذبة المخالفة لنبوات أنبياء الله (ز) الصادقين 28 لذلك غضب الله على بيت إسرائيل وعلى هذا الجيل القليل الإيمان 29 فبكى تلاميذه لهذه الكلمات وقالوا ارحمنا يا ألله (ح) ( [8] ) ترأف على الهيكل والمدينة المقدسة ولا تدفعها لاحتقار الأمم

ز اليهود ويحرّفون الكلم من بعد مواضعه منه هذا وبعده النصار يحرّفون اكلم في الانجيل هذا انا شهيد وهذا لكتاب. ( اليهود يحرّفون الكلم من بعض مواضعه منه هذا وبعدهم النصارى يحرّفون الكلم في الإنجيل وأنا وهذا الكتاب على هذا شهيدان ) وقد أشار راغ إلى التشابه بين هذه الجملة وبين الآية 45 من سورة النساء " يحرفون الكلم عن مواضعه "والاختلاف بين النصين واضح".
