home, many who met him said; ‘If this man were blind I should say for certain that it was he who was wont to sit at the beautiful gate of the temple.’ Others said: ‘It is he but how hath he received light?’ 10 And they accosted him saying: ‘Art thou the blind man that was wont to sit at the beautiful gate of the temple?’
11 He answered: ‘I am he and wherefore?’
12 They said: ‘Now how didst thou receive thy sight?’
13 He answered: ‘A man made clay, spitting on the ground, and this clay he placed upon mine eyes 14 and said to me: “Go and wash thee in the pool of Siloam.” 15 I went and washed, and now I see: 16 blessed be the God of Israel!’
17 When the man born blind was come again to the beautiful gate of temple, all Jerusalem was filled with the matter. Wherefore he was brought unto the chief of the priests, who was conferring with the priests and the Pharisees against Jesus.
19 The high-priest asked him, saying: ‘Man, wast thou born blind?’
20 ‘Yea,’ he replied.
21 ‘Now give glory to God,’ said the high-priest, ‘and tell us what prophet hath appeared to thee in a dream and given thee light. 22 Was it our father Abraham, or Moses the servant of God, or some other prophet? 23 For others could not do such a thing.
24 The man born blind replied:
البيت قال كثيرون من الذين التقوا به : لو كان هذا الرجل أعمى لقلت بكل تأكيد أنه هو الذي يجلس على الباب الجميل من الهيكل 9 وقال آخرون : إنه هو ولكن كيف أبصر ؟ 10 فسألوه قائلين : هل أنت الأكمه الذي كان يجلس على الباب الجميل من الهيكل ؟ 11 أجاب إنني أنا هو ولماذا ؟ 12 قالوا كيف نلت بصرك ؟ 13 أجاب : إن رجلا صنع طينا تافِلا على الأرض ووضع هذا الطين على عيني 14 وقال لي :اذهب واغتسل في بركة سلوام 15 فذهبت واغتسلت فصرت الآن أبصر 16 تبارك إله إسرائيل 17 ولما عاد الرجل الذي كان أكمه إلى الباب الجميل من الهيكل امتلأت أورشليم كلها بالخبر 18 لذلك أُحضر إلى رئيس الكهنة الذي كان يأتمر مع الكهنة والفريسيين على يسوع 19 فسأله رئيس الكهنة قائلا : هل وُلدت أعمى أيها الرجل ؟ 20 أجاب : نعم 21 فقال رئيس الكهنة : ألا فإعط مجدا لله واخبرنا أي نبي ظهر لك في الحلم وأنالك ( أعطاك ) نورا؟ 22 أ هو أبونا إبراهيم أم موسى خادم الله أم نبي آخر ؟ 23 لأن غيرهم لا يقدر أن يفعل شيئا نظير هذا 24 فأجاب الرجل الذي ولد أعمى :
