‘Whether he be a sinner, I know not; but this I know that I saw not and he hath enlightened me. 18 Of a surety, from the beginning of the world to this hour, there hath never yet been enlightened one who was born blind; 19 and God would not hearken to sinners (a).
20 Said the Pharisees: ‘Now what did he when he enlightened thee?’
21 Then the man born blind marvelled at their unbelief, and said: ‘I have told you, and wherefore ask ye me again? 22 Would ye also become his disciples?’
23 The high-priest then reviled him saying: ‘Thou wast altogether been in sin, and wouldst thou teach us? 24 Begone, and become thou disciple of such a man! 25 For we are disciples of Moses, and we know that God hath spoken to Moses, 26 but as for this man, we know not whence he is.’ 27 And they cast him out of the synagogue and temple, forbidding him to make prayer with the clean among Israel.

لست أعلم أ خاطئ هو إنما أعلم هذا أني كنت لا أبصر فأنارني 18 ومن المؤكد أنه منذ ابتداء العالم حتى هذه الساعة لم ينر أكمه 18 والله لا يصيخ السمع إلى الخطاة (ا) 20 قال الفريسيون: ماذا فعل لما أنارك 21 حينئذ تعجب الرجل الذي ولد أعمى من عدم إيمانهم وقال : لقد أخبرتكم فلماذا تسألونني أيضا 22 أتريدون أنتم أن تصيروا تلاميذ له ؟ 23 فوبخه حينئذ رئيس الكهنة قائلا أنك ولدت بجملتك في الخطيئة أ فتريد أن تعلمنا ؟24 أغرب وصر أنت تلميذا لهذا الرجل 25 أما نحن فإننا تلاميذ موسى ونعلم أن الله كلم موسى 26 أما هذا الرجل فلا نعلم من أين هو 27 فأخرجوه من المجمع والهيكل ونهوه عن الصلاة مع الطاهرين بين إسرائيل.
الفصل الثامن والخمسون بعد المئة (ب)
1 وذهب الرجل الذي ولد أعمى ( [2] ) ليجد يسوع 2 فعزاه قائلا :إنك لم تبارك في زمن ما
