evil world, assuredly God would take away from him all that he gave him (a) when he created him, and would make him reprobate ( [1] ): 25 so greatly is God contrary to this world.’

1 The disciples answered: ‘O master, exceeding great are thy words, therefore have mercy upon us, for we understand them not.’

2 Said Jesus: ‘Think ye perchance that God hath created his messenger(c) to be a rival ( [2] ), who should be fain to make himself equal with God? 3 Assuredly not, but rather as his good slave, who should not will that which his Lord willeth not. 5 Ye are not able to understand this because ye know not what a thing is sin. 6 Wherefore hearken unto my words. 7 Verily, verily, I say unto you, sin cannot arise in man save as a contradiction of God (d), 8 seeing that that only is sin which God willeth not ( [3] ): 9 insomuch that all that God willeth is most alien from sin(e). 10 Accordingly, if our high-priests and priests, with the Pharisees, persecuted me because the people of Israel hath called me

العالم الشرير متى جاء إليه لأخذ الله منه بالتأكيد كل ما وهبه (ا) عند خلقه وجعله منبوذا ( [4] ) 25 لأن الله بهذا المقدار مضاد للعالم .

ا أجاب التلاميذ : يا معلم إن كلامك لعظيم جدا فارحمنا لأننا لا نفهمه 2 قال يسوع : أيخيل لكم أن الله قد خلق رسوله (ج) ليكون ندا له ( [5] ) يريد أن يجعل نفسه مساويا لله ؟ كلا ثم كلا 4 بل عبده الصالح الذي لا يريد ما لا يريده الله 5 إنكم لا تقدرون أن تفقهوا هذا لأنكم لا تعرفون ما هي الخطيئة 6 فأصيخوا السمع لكلامي 7 الحق الحق أقول لكم إن الخطيئة لا يمكن أن تنشأ في إنسان إلا مضادة (د) لله 8 إذ ليست الخطيئة إلا ما لا يريده ( [6] ) الله 9 فإن كل ما يريده أجنبي عن (هـ) الخطيئة 10 فلو اضطهدني رؤساء الكهنة والكهنة مع الفريسيين لأن شعب إسرائيل دعاني

هـ الحرام ما لا يريد الله تعلى واحد وما يريده الله تعلى لا يحرم منه
