they despise not thy holy covenant. 30 Jesus answered: ‘So be it, Lord God of our fathers.(a)’

[18]Here is shown forth the persecution of the servants of God by the world, and (b)God’s protection saving them.

1 Having said this Jesus said: ye have not chosen me( [1] ), but I have chosen you, that ye may be my disciples. 2 If then the world shall hate you, ye shall be truly my disciples ( [2] ); 3 for the world hath been ever an enemy of servants of God. 4 remember [the] holy prophets that have been slain by the world ( [3] ), 5 even as in the time of Elijah (c)ten thousand prophets were slain by Jezebel, insomuch that scarcely did poor Elijah escape, and seven thousand ( [4] ) sons of prophets who were hidden by the captain of Ahab’s host. 6 Oh unrighteous world that knowest not God! 7 fear not therefore ye ( [5] )for the hairs of your head are numbered so that they shall not perish.( [6] ) 8 Behold the sparrows and other birds, whereof faleth not one feather without the will of

لكي لا يحتقروا عهدك 30 فأجاب يسوع : وليكن كذلك أيها الرب إله آبائنا (ا).

يوضح هنا اضطهاد العالم لخدام الله وأن حماية الله تقيهم(ب)

1 وبعد أن قال يسوع هذا قال :لستم أنتم الذين اخترتموني ( [7] ) بل أنا اخترتكم لتكونوا تلاميذي 2 فإذا أبغضكم العالم تكونوا حقا تلاميذي ( [8] ) 3 لأن العالم كان دائما عدو خدمة الله 4 تذكروا الأنبياء والأطهار الذين قتلهم العالم ( [9] ) 5 كما حدث في أيام إيليا (ج) إذ قتلت إيزابيل عشرة آلاف نبي حتى بالجهد نجا إيليا المسكين وسبعة آلاف من أبناء الأنبياء ( [10] ) الذين خبأهم رئيس جيش أخاب 6 أواه من العالم الفاجر الذي لا يعرف الله 7 إذا لا تخافوا أنتم ( [11] ) لأن شعور رؤوسكم محصاة كي لا تهلك ( [12] ) 8 انظروا العصفور الدوري والطيور الأخرى التي لا تسقط منها ريشة دون إرادة الله 9 أيعتني (د ) الله بالطيور أكثر من اعتنائه بالإنسان الذي لأجله خلق

ج في زمان الياس يقتل اليهود عشرة الاف انبياء بغير الحق منه (في زمن إلياس قتل اليهود عشرة آلاف نبي بغير الحق)
