‘Paradise is so great that no man can measure it. 6 Verily I say unto thee that the heavens are nine ( [1] ), among which are set the planets, that are distant one from another five hundred years’ journey for a man: 7 and the earth in like manner is distant from the first heaven five hundred years’ journey.

8 ‘But stop thou at the measuring of the first heaven, which is by so much greater than the whole earth as the whole earth is greater than a grain of sand. 9 So also the second heaven is greater than the first, and the third than the second, and so on, up to the last heaven, each one is likewise greater than the next. 10 And verily I say to thee that paradise is greater than all the earth and all the heavens [together], even as all the earth is greater than a grain of sand. (a)( [2] )’

11 Then said Peter: ‘O master, paradise must needs be greater than God because God is seen within it.’

12 Jesus answered: ‘Hold thy peace, Peter, for thou unwittingly blasphemest.’

إن الجنة واسعة جدا حتى أنه لا يقدر أحد أن يقيسها 6 الحق أقول لك إن السموات تسع ( [3] ) موضوعة بينها السيارات التي تبعد إحداها عن الأخرى مسيرة رجل خمس مئة سنة 7 وكذلك الأرض مسيرة خمس مئة سنة من السماء الأولى 8 ولكن قف عند قياس السماء الأولى التي تزيد عن الأرض برمتها كما تزيد الأرض عن حبة رمل 9 وهكذا تزيد السماء الثانية عن الأولى والثالثة على الثانية و هلم جرا حتى السماء الأخيرة كل منها تزيد عما يليها 10 والحق أقول لك أن الجنة أكبر من الأرض برمتها والسموات برمتها كما أن الأرض برمتها أكبر من حبة رمل (ا) ( [4] ) 11 فقال حينئذ بطرس : يا معلم لا بد أن تكون الجنة أكبر من الله لأن الله يُرى داخلها 12 أجاب يسوع : صه يا بطرس لأنك تجدف على غير هدى .

[1] The Old Testament agrees with Quran that heavens are seven, but Quran adds that paradise has two levels one over the other, as it is clear from Sourat ( Chapter) Ar-Rahman 55: 46-62. May be what is meant by the eighth and ninth heavens paradise generally. (writer)

[2] Al-’Imran 3: 133, Al-Hadid 57: 21, what was mentioned here about the ratio of between earth and the first sky is backed with our knowledge of astrology science now, but Great Quran says that all stars and planets are inside the first sky.

[3] يتفق العهد القديم مع القرآن الكريم أن السماوات سبع ولكن القرآن الكريم يضيف أن الجنة على مستويين فوق بعضهما كما هو واضح من سورة الرحمن :46 – 62 ) وربما كان المقصود بالسماء الثامنة والسماء التاسعة الجنة على إجمالها.( الكاتب)

[4] آل عمران : 133 ، الحديد : 21 ، وما ذكر عن نسبة الأرض إلى السماء الأولى يؤيده ما لدينا من علم بالفلك، ولكن القرآن الكريم يذكر أن جميع النجوم والكواكب داخل السماء الأولى.
