weeping: ‘Lord, thou, knowest my heart; 9 speak, therefore, for my soul desireth to hear thy voice.’
10 Then said Jesus: ‘As God liveth (a), man cannot merit a little breath which he receiveth every moment ( [1] ).’
11 The scribe was beside himself, hearing this and the disciple likewise marveled, because they remembered that which Jesus said ( [2] ), that whatsoever they gave for love of God, they should receive an hundredfold.
12 Then he said ‘If one should lend you an hundred pieces of gold, and ye should spend those pieces, could ye say to that man: “I give thee a decayed vine-leaf; give me therefore thine house for I merit it.”? ’
13 The scribe answered: ‘Nay Lord, for he ought first to pay that which he owed, and then if he wished for anything, he should give him good things, but what bocteth a corrupted leaf?’

1 Jesus answered: ‘Well hast thou said, O brother; 2 wherefore tell me,

باكيا: يا سيد إنك تعرف قلبي 9 تكلم إذا لأن نفسي تروم أن تسمع صوتك 10 فقال حينئذ يسوع : لعمر الله (ا) إن الإنسان لا يستحق النفس القليل الذي يأخذه كل دقيقة ( [3] ) 11 فلما سمع الكاتب هذا كاد يجن وانذهل كذلك التلاميذ لأنهم ذكروا ما قال يسوع ( [4]) أنهم مهما أعطوا في حب الله يأخذون مئة ضعف 12 حينئذ قال لو أقرضكم أحد مئة قطعة من الذهب فصرفتم هذه القطع أ فتقولون لذلك الإنسان : إني أعطيك ورقة كرمة عفنة فاعطني بها بيتك لأني أستحقه؟ 13 أجاب الكاتب : لا يا سيدي لأنه يجب عليه أن يدفع ما عليه ثم عليه إذا أراد شيئا أن يعطي أشياء جيدة ولكن ما نفع ورقة فاسدة؟

1 أجاب يسوع : لقد قلت حسنا أيها الأخ 2 فقل لي
