who created man out of nothing ( [1] )? 3 Assuredly it was God, who also gave him (a) the whole world for his benefit. 4 But man by sinning hath spent it all, 5 for by reason of sin is all the world turned against man, 6 and man in his misery hath naught to give to God but works corrupted by sin. 7 For sinning every day, he maketh his own work corrupt, 8 wherefore Isaiah the prophet saith: ( [2] )‘Our righteousnesses are “as a menstruous cloth.”’
9 ‘How then shall man have merit, seeing he is unable to give satisfaction? 10 Is it, perchance, that man sinneth not? 11 Certain it is that our God saith by his prophet David:( [3] ) ‘Seven times a day falleth the righteous”; 12 how then falleth the unrighteous? 13 And if our righteousnesses are corrupt, how abominable are our unrighteousnesses! 14 As God liveth (b) there is naught that a man ought to shun more than this saying “ I merit.” 15 Let a man know brother, the works of his hands, and he will straightway see his merit. 16 Every good thing that cometh out of a man, verily man doeth it not, but God worketh it in him;

من خلق الإنسان من لا شئ ( [4]) ؟ 3 من المؤكد أنه هو الله الذي وهبه(ا) العالم برمته لمنفعته 4 ولكن الإنسان قد صرفه كله بارتكاب الخطيئة 5 لأنه بسبب الخطيئة انقلب العالم ضدا للإنسان 6 وليس للإنسان في شقائه شئ يعطيه لله سوى أعمال أفسدتها الخطيئة 7 لأنه بارتكابه الخطيئة كل يوم يفسد عمله 8 لذلك يقول إشعياء النبي ( [5] ) " إن برنا هو كخرقة حائض " 9 فكيف يكون للإنسان استحقاق وهو غير قادر على الترضية؟ 10 لعل الإنسان لا يخطأ ؟ 11 من المؤكد أن إلهنا يقول على لسان نبيه داود ( [6] ) " إن الصديق يسقط سبع مرات في اليوم " 12 فكم يسقط الفاجر إذاً ؟ 13 وإذا كان برنا فاسدا فكم يكون فجورنا ممقوتا ؟ 14 لعمر الله (ب) إنه لا يوجد شئ يجب على الإنسان الإعراض عنه كهذا القول " إني أستحق " 15 ليعرف الإنسان أيها الأخ عمل يديه فيرى توا استحقاقه 16 حقا إن كل عمل صالح يصدر عن الإنسان لا يفعله الإنسان بل إنما يفعله الله فيه
