but had not a mantle. 10 Wherefore having heard of the charity of Hosea, he went to find him, and said to him: “Brother, I would fain go to Jerusalem to perform a sacrifice to our God, but I have not a mantle, wherefore I know not what to do.”
11 ‘When he heard this Hosea said: “Pardon me, brother, for I have committed a great sin against thee: 12 because God hath given me a mantle in order that I might give it to thee, and I had forgotten. 13 Now therefore accept it and pray to God for me.”
14 The man, believing this accepted Hosea’s mantle and departed. 15 And when Hosea went to the house of Haggai, Haggai said “Who hath taken away thy mantle?”
16 Hosea replied “the book of Moses.”
17 ‘Haggai was much pleased at hearing this, because he perceived the goodness of Hosea.
18 ‘It happened that a poor man was stripped by robbers and left naked. 19 Whereupon Hosea, seeing him, stripped off his own tunic and gave it to him that was naked; himself being left with a little piece of goat skin over the privy parts. 20 Wherefore as he came not to see Haggai the good Haggai thought that Hosea was sick. 21 So he went with two disciples to find him: and they
ولم يكن له رداء 10 فلما سمع بتصدق هوشع ذهب ليراه وقال له : " أيها الأخ إني أريد أن أذهب إلى أورشليم لأقوم بتقديم ذبيحة لإلهنا ولكن ليس لي رداء فلا أدري ماذا أفعل " 11 فلما سمع هوشع قال :" عفوا أيها الأخ فإني قد ارتكبت خطيئة عظيمة إليك 12 فإن الله قد أعطاني رداءً لكي أعطيك إياه فنسيت 13 فاقبله الآن وصلِّ إلى لله لأجلي " 14 فصدَّق الرجل هذا وقبل رداء هوشع وانصرف 15 ولما ذهب هوشع إلى بيت حجي قال حجي : " من أخذ رداءك ؟ 16 " أجاب هوشع :" كتاب موسى " 17 فسُرَّ حجي كثيرا من سماع هذا لأنه أدرك صلاح هوشع 18 وحدث أن اللصوص سلبوا فقيرا وتركوه عريانا 19 فلما رآه هوشع نزع صدرته وأعطاها للعريان ولم يبق له سوى فرصة صغيرة من جلد الماعز على سوءته 20 فلما لم يأت إلى حجي ظن حجي الصالح أن هوشع مريض 21 فذهب مع تلميذيه ليراه فوجده
