20 ‘The good Haggai, when he heard this, wept for the absence of Hosea as a mother weepeth for the absence of her son. And having called two disciples he went to Jerusalem. 22 And by the will of God, in the entrance of the city he met Hosea, who was laden with bread to carry it to the labourers in his master’s vineyard.

23 ‘Having recognized him, Haggai said: “Son, how is it that thou hast forsaken thine old father, who seeketh thee mourning?”

24 ‘Hosea answered: “ Father, I have been sold.”

25 ‘Then said Haggai in wrath: “Who is that bad fellow who hath sold thee?”

26 ‘Hosea answered: “God forgive thee, O my father; for he who hath sold me is so good that if he were not in the world no one would become holy.”

27 ‘ “Who then, is he?” Said Haggai.

28 ‘Hosea answered: “O my father, it was the book of Moses.”

29 ‘Then the good Haggai remained as it were beside himself, and said “Would to God, my son, that the book of Moses would sell me also with all my children, even as it hath sold thee!”

30 ‘And Haggai went with Hosea to the house of his master, who when he saw Haggai said: “Blessed be our God, who hath sent his prophet

كيف أنه قد أخذ عبدا إلى أورشليم 20 فلما علم هذا حجي الصالح بكى لبعاد هوشع كما تبكي الأم لبعاد ابنها 21 وبعد أن دعا تلميذين ذهبا إلى أورشليم 22 فصادف بمشيئة الله عند مدخل المدينة هوشع وكان محملا خبزا ليأخذه إلى الفعلة في كرم سيده 23 فلما استبانه حجي قال :" يا بني كيف هجرت أباك الشيخ الذي ينشدك نائحا؟ " 24 أجاب هوشع :" يا أبتاه لقد شريت " 25 فقال حينئذ حجي بحنق :" من هو ذلك الرديء الذي باعك؟" 26 فأجاب هوشع :" غُفر لك يا أبتاه لأن الذي باعني صالح بحيث لو لم يكن في العالم لما صار أحدا طاهرا " 27 فقال حجي :" فمن هو إذا ؟" 28 أجاب هوشع :" إنه كتاب موسى يا أبتاه " 29 فوقف حينئذ حجي الصالح كمن فقد عقله وقال :" ليت كتاب موسى يبيعني أنا أيضا مع أولادي كما باعك! " 30 وذهب حجي مع هوشع إلى بيت سيده الذي قال لما رأى حجي :" تبارك إلهنا الذي أرسل نبيه
