unto my house”: and he ran to kiss his hand. 31 Then said Haggai: “Brother, kiss the hand of thy slave whom thou hast bought, for he is better than I.” 32 And he narrated to him all that had passed; 33 whereupon the master gave Hosea his freedom ( [1] ).

1 Then said Jesus: ‘This is true, because I am assured thereof by God. 2 Wherefore that every one may know that this is the truth, in the name of God let the sun stand still ( [2] ) and not move for twelve hours! 3 And so it came to pass to the great terror of all Jerusalem and Judaea.

4 And Jesus said to the scribe: ‘O brother, what seekest thou to learn from me, seeing thou hast such knowledge? 5 As God liveth(b), this is sufficient for man’s salvation inasmuch as the humility of Haggai, with the charity of Hosea, fulfilleth all the law and all the prophets ( [3] ).

6 ‘Tell me, brother, when thou camest to question me in the temple, didst thou think perchance, that God had sent me to destroy the law and the prophets ( [4] )?

7 ‘Certain it is that God will not do this, seeing he is (c) unchangeable, 8 and therefore that which God ordained as man’s way of salvation, this

إلى بيتي " وأسرع ليقبل يده 31 فقال حينئذ حجي :" قبِّل أيها الأخ يد عبدك الذي ابتعته لأنه خير مني "32 وأخبره بكل ما جرى 33 فمن ثم أعتق السيد هوشع ‘ ( [5] ) ( ثم قال الكاتب ) 34 : وهذا كل ما تبتغي أيها المعلم.

1 فقال حينئذ يسوع : إن هذا لصدق لأن الله أكَّده لي ولتقف الشمس ( [6] ) ولا تتحرك برهة اثنتي عشرة ساعة! لكي يؤمن كل أحد أن هذا صدق 3 وهكذا حدث فأفضى إلى هلع أورشليم واليهودية كلها 4 وقال يسوع للكاتب : ماذا عساك أن تطلب مني أيها الأخ وعندك مثل هذه المعرفة 5 لعمر الله (ب) إن في هذا كفاية لخلاص الإنسان لأن اتضاع حجي وتصدق هوشع يكملان العمل بالشريعة برمتها و (كتب ) الأنبياء ( [7] ) برمتها 6 قل لي أيها الأخ أخَطر في بالك لما أتيت لتسألني في الهيكل أن الله قد بعثني لأبيد الشريعة والأنبياء ؟ ( [8] ) 7 من المؤكد أن الله لا يفعل هذا لأنه غير متغير (ج) 8 فإن ما فرضه الله طريقا لخلاص الإنسان
