hath he caused all the prophets to say. 9 As God liveth (a), in whose presence my soul standeth, if the book of Moses with the book of our father David had not been corrupted by the human traditions of false Pharisees and doctors (b), God would not have given his word to me (c). 10 And why speak I of the book of Moses and the book David? 11 Every prophecy have they corrupted ( [1] ), in so much that to-day a thing is not sought because God hath commanded it, but men look whether the doctors say it, and the Pharisees observe it, as though God were in error, and men could not err.

12 ‘Woe, therefore, to this faithless generation, for upon them shall come the blood ( [2] )of every prophet and righteous man, with the blood of Zechariah son of Berachiah, whom they slew between the temple and the altar (d)!

13 ‘What prophet have they not persecuted? 14 What righteous man have they suffered to die a natural death? 15 Scarcely one! 16 And they seek now to slay me. 17 They boast themselves to be children of Abraham, and to possess the beautiful temple. 18 As God liveth, (a) they are children of Satan, and therefore they do his will ( [3] ): 19 therefore the temple ( [4] ), with the holy city, shall go to ruin, in so much that

هو ما أمر الأنبياء بالقول به 9 لعمر الله (ا) الذي تقف نفسي في حضرته لو لم يفسد كتاب موسى مع كتاب أبينا داود بالتقاليد البشرية للفريسيين الكذبة والفقهاء (ب) لما أعطاني الله (ج) كلمته 10 ولكن لماذا أتكلم عن كتاب موسى وكتاب داود ؟ 11 لقد فسدت كل نبوة ( [5] ) حتى أنه لا يطلب اليوم شئ لأن الله أمر به بل ينظر الناس إذا كان الفقهاء يقولون به والفريسيون يحفظونه كأن الله على ضلال والبشر لا يضلون 12 فويل لهذا الجيل الكافر لأنهم سيحملون تبعة ( [6] ) دم كل نبي وصدِّيق مع دم زكريا بن برخيا الذي قتلوه بين الهيكل والمذبح (د) 13 أي نبي لم يضطهدوه ؟ 14 أي صدِّيق تركوه يموت حتف أنفه؟ 15 لم يكادوا يتركوا واحدا 16 وهم يطلبون الآن أن يقتلوني 17 يفاخرون بأنهم أبناء إبراهيم وأن لهم الهيكل الجميل ملكا 18 لعمر الله (ا) إنهم أولاد الشيطان فلذلك ينفذون إرادته ( [7] ) 19 ولذلك سيتهدم الهيكل ( [8] ) مع المدينة المقدسة تهدما
