comfort her, because they supposed she was going to the sepulchre to weep over her brother. 15 When therefore she arrived at the place where Jesus had spoken to Mary, Martha weeping said: ‘Lord, would to God thou hadst been here, for then my brother had not died!’
16 Mary then come up weeping; 17 whereupon Jesus shed tears, and sighing said: ‘Where have ye laid him?’ 18 They answered: ‘Come and see.’
19 The Pharisees said among themselves: ‘Now this man, who raised the son of the widow at Nain, why did he suffer this man to die, having said that he should not die?’
20 Jesus having come to the sepulchre, where every one was weeping said: ‘Weep not for lazarus sleepeth, and I am come to awake him.’
21 The Pharisees said among themselves: ‘would to God that thou didst so sleep! 22 Then said Jesus: ‘Mine hour is not yet come; 23 but when it shall come I shall sleep in like manner, and shall be speedily awakened.’ 24 Then said Jesus again: ‘Take away the stone from the sepulchre.’
25 Said Martha ‘Lord, he stinketh for he hath been dead four days.’
26 Said Jesus: ‘Why then am I come hither, Martha? Believest thou not in me, that I shall awaken him?’
27 Martha answered: ‘I know that thou art the holy one of God, who hath sent thee (a)

ليعزُّوها ؟ لأنهم حسبوا أنها ذاهبة إلى القبر لتبكي أخاها 15 فلما بلغت مرثا المكان الذي كان قد كلم فيه يسوع مريم قالت باكية : يا سيد ليتك كنت هنا لأنك لو كنت لم يمت أخي 16 ثم وصلت مريم باكية 17 فسكب من ثم يسوع العبرات وقال متنهدا : أين وضعتموه ؟ 18 أجابوا : تعال وانظر 19 فقال الفريسيون فيما بينهم : لماذا سمح هذا الرجل الذي أحيا ابن الأرملة في نايين أن يموت هذا الرجل بعد أن قال أنه لا يموت؟ 20 ولما وصل يسوع القبر حيث كان كل أحد يبكي قال : لا تبكوا لأن لعازر راقد وقد أتيت لأوقظه 21 فقال الفريسيون فيما بينهم : ليتك ترقد أنت هذا الرقاد ! 22 حينئذ قال يسوع : إن ساعتي لم تأت 23 ولكن متى جاءت أرقد كذلك ثم أوقظ سريعا 24 ثم قال يسوع أيضا : ارفعوا الحجر عن القبر 25 قالت مرثا : يا سيد لقد أنتن لأن له أربعة أيام وهو ميت 26 قال يسوع : إذا لماذا جئت إلى هنا يا مرثا ألا تؤمنين بأني أوقظه ؟ 27 قالت مرثا : أعلم أنك قدوس الله الذي أرسلك (ا)
