cut down the wood in such wise that thy work shall be good.” 7 Is this true?’
8 John answered: ‘It is most true.’ [then said Jesus] 9 ‘As I live eternally’ saith God (a)( [1] ), I have given a good axe to every man, which is the sight of the burial of one dead. 10 Whoso wield well this axe remove the wood of sin from their heart without pain; 11 wherefore they receive my grace and mercy, giving them merit of eternal life for their good works. 12 But the who forgetteth that he is mortal, though time after time he see others die, and saith, “If I should see the other life I would do good works ( [2] )” my fury shall be upon him, and I will so smite him with death that he shall never more receive any good.’ 13 ‘O John,’ said Jesus, how great is the advantage of him who from the fall of others learneth to stand on his feet!’
1 Then said Lazarus: ‘Master, verily I say unto thee I cannot conceive the penalty of which he is

تقطع الخشب على طريقة يكون معها عملك حسنا " 7 أليس هذا بصحيح ؟ 8 أجاب يوحنا : إنه لصحيح كل الصحة حينئذ قال يسوع ( [3] ) :9 يقول الله (ا) " لعمري أنا الأبدي إني أعطيت فأسا جيدة لكل إنسان وهي منظر دفن الميت 10 فمن استعمل هذه الفأس جيدا أزالوا غابة الخطيئة من قلوبهم بدون ألم 11 فهم لذلك ينالون نعمتي ورحمتي وأجزيهم الحياة الأبدية بأعمالهم الصالحة 12 ولكن من ينسى أنه فانٍ مع أنه يرى المرة بعد المرة غيره يموت فيقول : ’ لو أتيح لي رؤية الحياة الأخرى لعملت أعمالا صالحة ( [4] ) ‘ فإن غضبي يحل عليه ولأضرِبَنَّه بالموت حتى لا ينال خيرا فيما بعد " 13 ثم قال يسوع : يا يوحنا ما أعظم مزية من يتعلم من سقوط الآخرين كيف يقف على رجليه.
1 حينئذ قال لعازر : يا معلم الحق أقول لك إني لا أقدر أن أدرك العقوبة التي
