some of thy disciples, 14 to tarry there until this hatred of our priests be past: 15 for I will minister to you what is necessary. 16 And the multitude of disciples leave thou here in the house of Simon and in my house, for God will provide (a) for all.’

17 And this Jesus did, desiring only to have with him the twelve first called apostles.

1 At this time, while the virgin Mary, mother of Jesus, was standing in prayer, the angel Gabriel visited her 2 and narrated to her the persecution of her son, saying: ‘Fear not, Mary, for God will protect (c) him from the world.’ 3 Wherefore Mary, weeping, departed from Nazareth, and came to Jerusalem to the house of Mary Salome ( [1] ), her sister, seeking her son.

4 But since he had secretly retired beyond the brook Cedron she was not able to see him any more in this world. Save after the deed of shame, for that the angel Gabriel, with the angels Michael, Rafael, and Uriel, by command of God brought him to her.

بعض تلاميذك 14 وأن تبقى هناك إلى أن يزول حقد الكهنة 15 لأني أقدم لك كل ما يلزم 16 وأنتم يا جمهور التلاميذ امكثوا هنا في بيت سمعان وفي بيتي لأن الله يعول (ا) الجميع 17 ففعل يسوع هكذا ورغب في أن يكون معه الذين دعوا أولا رسلا فقط .

1 وفي هذا الوقت بينما كانت العذراء مريم أم يسوع منتصبة في الصلاة زارها الملاك جبريل 2 وقص عليها اضطهاد ابنها قائلا: لا تخافي يا مريم لأن الله سيحميه (ج) من العالم 3 فانطلقت مريم من الناصرة باكية وجاءت إلى أورشليم إلى بيت مريم سالومة ( [2] ) أختها تطلب ابنها 4 ولكن لما كان قد اعتزل سرا وراء جدول قدرون لم يعد في استطاعتها أن تراه أيضا في هذا العالم إلا بعد ذلك العار إذ أحضره إليها بأمر الله الملاك جبريل مع الملائكة ميخائيل ورفائيل وأوريل .

[2] مرقس 15 :40 ، مرقس 16 :1 ، في أحد التقاليد أن سالومة كانت ابنة يوسف من زيجة سايقة ( قاله أبيفانيوس ) وفي زعم آخر أنها امرأته ( قاله نيسافورس ) أما شرح المتأخرين فيؤيد قول برنابا إذ يجعلها هي الأخت الواردة في يوحنا 19 :25 ( المترجم ) وهذا دليل آخر على قرب كاتب إنجيل برنابا من المسيح عليه السلام ( الكاتب ).
