1 The soldiers took Judas and bound him ( [1] ), not without derision. 2 For the truthfully denied that he was Jesus; 3 and the soldiers, mocking him, said: ‘Sir, fear not for we are come to make thee king of Israel, 4 and we have bound thee because we know that thou dost refuse the kingdom.’

5 Judas answered: ‘Now have ye lost your senses! 6 Ye are come to take Jesus of Nazareth, with arms and lanterns as [against] a robber; and ye have bound me ( [2] ) that have guided you, to make me king!’

7 Then the soldiers lost their patience, and with blows and kicks they began to flout Judas, and they led him with fury into Jerusalem.

8 John and Peter followed the soldiers afar off ( [3] ); and they affirmed to him who writeth that they saw all the examination that was made of Judas by the high priest, and by the council of the Pharisees, who were assembled to put Jesus to death.

1 فأخذ الجنود يهوذا وأوثقوه ( [4] ) ساخرين منه 2 لأنه أنكر وهو صادق أنه هو يسوع 3 فقال الجنود مستهزئين به: يا سيدي لا تخف لأننا قد أتينا لنجعلك ملكا علي إسرائيل 4 وإنما أوثقناك لأننا نعلم أنك ترفض المملكة 5 أجاب يهوذا :لعلكم جننتم 6 أنكم أتيتم بسلاح ومصابيح لتأخذوا يسوع الناصري كأنه لص أ فتوثقونني ( [5] ) أنا الذي أرشدتكم لتجعلوني ملكا! 7 حينئذ خان الجنود صبرهم وشرعوا يمتهنون يهوذا بضربات ورفَسَات وقادوه بحنق إلى أورشليم 8 وتبع يوحنا وبطرس الجنود عن بعد ( [6] ) وأكد ا للذي يكتب أنهما شاهدا كل التحري الذي تحرَّاه بشأن يهوذا رئيس الكهنة ومجلس الفريسيين الذين اجتمعوا ليقتلوا يسوع
