16 Accordingly the men collected a great quantity of wood, 17 and having bound Abraham’s hands and feet ,18 put him upon the wood and put fire underneath.
19 Lo! God through his angel, commanded the fire that it should not burn Abraham his servant. 20 The fire blazed up with great fury, and burned about two thousand men of those who had condemned Abraham to death. 21 Abraham verily found himself free, being carried by the angel of God near to the house of his father, without seeing who carried him; 22 and thus Abraham escaped death.

1 Then said philip: ’Great is the mercy of God upon whoso loveth him. 2 Tell us, O master, how Abraham came to the knowledge of God.’
3 Jesus answered: having arrived nigh unto the house of his father, Abraham feared to go into the house; 4 so he removed some distance from the house and sat under a palm tree, 5 where thus abiding by himself he said: “It needs must be that there is a God who hath life and power more than man, since he maketh man,
6 And man without God could not make man.”
16 فجمع القوم مقدارا كبيرا من الحطب 17 وربطوا يدي إبراهيم ورجليه 18 ووضعوه على الحطب ووضعوا نارا تحته 19 فإذا الله قد أمر النار بواسطة ملاكه جبريل ألا تحرق عبده إبراهيم 20 فاضطرمت النار باحتدام وحرقت نحو ألفي رجل من الذين حكموا على إبراهيم بالموت 21 أما إبراهيم فقد وجد نفسه مطلق السراح إذ حمله ملاك الله إلى مقربة من بيت أبيه دون أن يرى من حمله 22 وهكذا نجا إبراهيم من الموت ( [1]) .
الفصل التاسع والعشرون (ا)
1 حينئذ قال فيلبس : ما أعظم هي رحمة الله للذين يحبونه( [2] )2 قل لنا يا معلم كيف وصل إلى معرفة الله 3 أجاب يسوع : لما بلغ إبراهيم جوار بيت أبيه خاف أن يدخل البيت 4 فانتقل إلى بعد البيت (مسافة من البيت) وجلس تحت شجرة نخل وحيث لبث منفردا 5 قال :" لا بد من وجود إله ذي حياة وقوة أكثر من الإنسان لأنه يصنع الإنسان 6 والإنسان بدون الله لا يقدر أن يصنع الإنسان "
