38 And having said this Jesus lifted up his hands, saying: ‘to thee be honour and glory, O God. 39 so be it.’

1 Jesus went to Jerusalem, near unto the Senofegia (= tabernacles), a feast of our nation. 2 The scribes and Pharisees having perceived this took counsel to catch him in his talk.

3 Whereupon, there came to him a doctor, saying: master, ‘ what must I do to have eternal life?’

4 Jesus answered: ‘how is it written in the law?

5 The tempter answered saying: ‘love lord thy God[2], and thy neighbour. 6 Thou shalt love thy God above all things, with all thy heart and thy mind 7 and thy neighbour as thyself.’

8 Jesus answered: ‘thou hast answered well 9 therefore go and do thou so, I say , and thou shalt have eternal life.’

10 He said unto him: and who is my neighbour?

11 Jesus answered, lifting up his eyes: ’ A man was going down from Jerusalem to go unto Jericho, a city rebuilt under a curse. 12  This man on the road was seized  by robbers, wounded and stripped; 13 whereupon they departed, leaving him half dead. 14 It chanced that a priest passed by that place, 15 and he seeing the wounded man. Passed on without greeting him. 16 In like manner passed a levite, without saying a word. 17 It chanced that there passed [also] a Samaritan 18 who,

38 ولما قال يسوع هذا رفع يديه قائلا : الكرامة والمجد لك يا ألله ( [1] ) 39 ليكن كذلك.

 

 

 

الفصل الثلاثون (ا)

 

1 وذهب يسوع إلى أورشليم قرب المظال وهو أحد أعياد أمتنا 2 فلما علم هذا الكتبة والفريسيون تشاوروا ليتسقطوه بكلامه ( [2] ) 3 فلذلك جاء إليه فقيه قائلا : "( [3] ) يا معلم ماذا يجب أن أفعل لأحصل على الحياة الأبدية ؟ "4 أجاب يسوع :" كيف كتب في الناموس ؟" 5 أجاب قائلا :" أحب الرب إلهك (ب) وقريبك 6 أحب إلهك فوق كل شئ بكل قلبك وعقلك 7 وقريبك كنفسك ( [4] ) 8 أجاب يسوع :" أجبت حسنا " 9 وإني أقول لك اذهب وافعل هذا تكن لك الحياة الأبدية 10 فقال له :" من هو قريبي؟ 11 أجاب يسوع رافعا طرفه: كان رجل نازلا من أورشليم  ليذهب إلى أريحا مدينة أعيد بناؤها تحت اللعنة ( [5] ) 12 فأمسك اللصوص هذا الرجل على الطريق وجرحوه وعرّوه 13 ثم انصرفوا وتركوه مشرفا على الموت 14 فاتفق أن مر كاهن بذلك الموضع 15 فلما رأى الجريح سار دون أن يحييه 16 ومر مثله لاوي دون أن يقول كلمة 17 واتفق أن مر ( أيضا ) سامري
