25 Then said Jesus ( [1] ): and the messenger of God (a) when he shall come, of what lineage will he be?

27 Whereupon Jesus said: ye deceive yourselves; 28 for David in spirit calleth him lord, saying thus : ( [2] ) “God said to my lord, sit thou on my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool. 29 God shall send forth thy rod which shall have lordship in the midst of thine enemies. 30 If the messenger of God whom ye call messiah (b) were son of David, how should David call him lord? 31 Believe me, for verily I say to you, that the promise was made in Ishmael, not in Isaac.

1 Thereupon said the disciples: ‘O master, it is thus written in the book of Moses, that in Isaac ( [3] ) was the promise made.’

2 Jesus answered, with a groan: ‘It is so written, 3 but Moses wrote it not, nor Joshua, 4 but rather our rabbins(d), who fear not God ( [4]. 5 Verily I say unto you, that if ye consider the words of the angel Gabriel , ye shall discover the malice of our scribes and doctors. 6 For the angel said : “Abraham, all the world shall know how

كان أبا يعقوب ويعقوب كان أبا يهوذا الذي من ذريته داود 25 فحينئذ قال ( [5] ) يسوع :" ومتى جاء رسول الله فمن نسل من يكون ؟ 26 أجاب التلاميذ :" من داود" 27 فأجاب يسوع :" لا تغشوا أنفسكم 28 لأن داود يدعوه في الروح ربا قائلا هكذا :" ( [6] ) قال الله لربي اجلس عن يميني حتى أجعل أعداءك موطئا لقدميك 29 يرسل الرب قضيبك الذي سيكون ذا سلطان في وسط أعدائك " 30 فإذا كان رسول الله (ا) الذي تسمونه مسيا (ب) بن داود فكيف يسميه داود ربا 31 صدقوني لأني أقول لكم الحق أن العهد صنع بإسماعيل لا بإسحاق.

1 حينئذ قال التلاميذ :" يا معلم هكذا كتب في كتاب موسى أن العهد صنع بإسحاق ( [7] ) 2 أجاب يسوع متأوها " هذا هو المكتوب 3 ولكن موسى لم يكتبه ولا يشوع 4 بل أحبارنا (د) الذين لا يخافون الله ( [8] ) 5 الحق أقول لكم أنكم إذا أعملتم النظر في كلام الملاك جبريل تعلمون خبث كتبتنا وفقهائنا 6 لأن الملاك قال يا إبراهيم سيعلم العالم كله
