with truth of heart.5’ The virgin answered: ‘Now how shall I bring forth sons, seeing I know not a man? ( [1] )’ 6 The angel answered: ‘ O Mary, God (a ) who made man without a man is able to generate in thee man without a man, because with him nothing is impossible( [2] )‘.7 Mary answered: ‘I know that God is almighty (b), therefore his will be done ( [3] )’. 8 The angel answered: ‘Now be conceived in thee the prophet, whom thou shalt name Jesus ( [4] ):9 and thou shalt keep him from wine and from strong drink and from every unclean meat( [5] ), because the child is an holy one of God.’ 10 Mary bowed herself with humility, saying: ‘Behold the handmaid of God, be it done according to thy word ( [6] )‘.11 The angel departed,( [7] )12 and the virgin glorified God, saying:13 ‘Know, O my soul, the greatness of God, 14 and exult, my spirit, in God my Saviour(c);15 for he hath regarded the lowliness of his handmaiden,16 insomuch that I shall be called blessed by all the nations, 17 for he that is mighty hath made me great,18 and blessed be his holy name. For his mercy extendeth from generation to generation ( [8] ) of them that fear him

بإخلاص 5 فأجابت العذراء وكيف ألد بنين وأنا لا أعرف رجلا( [9] )6 فأجاب الملاك : يامريم إن الله (ا )الذي صنع الإنسان من غير إنسان لقادر أن يخلق فيه (فيكي) إنسانا من غير إنسان لأنه لا محال ( [10]) عنده 7 فأجابت مريم :إني عالمة أن الله قدير (ب ) فلتكن مشيئته ([11]) 8 فقال الملاك : كوني حاملا بالنبي الذي ستدعينه يسوع( [12] )9 فامنعيه الخمر والمسكر وكل لحم نجس( [13] )لأن الطفل قدوس الله 10 فانحنت مريم بضعة قائلة ها أنا ذا أمة الله فليكن بحسب كلمتك ( [14] ) 11 فانصرف الملاك ( [15] )12 أما العذراء فمجّدت الله قائلة : 13 "اعرفي يا نفس عظمة الله 14 وافخري يا روحي بالله مخلصي (ج ) 15 لأنه رمق ضعة أمته 16 وستدعوني سائر الأمم مباركة 17 لأن القدير صيّرني عظيمة 18فليتبارك اسمه القدوس لأن رحمته تمتد من جيل إلى جيل للذين يتقونه
