shouldst return to thy first beauty and thy first state. 22 Thou must know that the angel Michael ( [1] ) must needs on the day of judgement strike thee with the sword of God (a) one hundred thousand times, 23 and each blow will give thee the pain of ten hells.’
24 Satan replied: “we shall see in that day who can do most; 25 certainly I shall have on my side many angels and most potent idolaters who will trouble God ( [2] ), 26 and he shall know how great a mistake he made to banish me for the sake of a vile [piece of] clay.”
27 Then I said: ‘O Satan, thou art infirm in mind, and knowest not what thou sayest.’
28 Then Satan, in a derisive manner, wagged his head, saying :”come now let us make up this peace between me and God; 29 and what must be done say thou, O Jesus, since thou art sound in mind.”
30 I answered: “Two words only need be spoken.”
31 Satan replied: “what words?”
32 I answered: “These: I have sinned; have mercy on me.”
33 Said Satan then :”Now willingly will I make this peace if God will say these words to me.”
34 “Now depart from me,” I said “ O cursed one, 35 for thou art the wicked author of all injustice and sin, 36 but god is just and without any sin (b). “
37 Satan departed shrieking, and said :”it is not so O Jesus

أن تعود إلى جمالك الأول وحالك الأولى 22 وأنت تعلم أن الملاك ميخائيل ( [3] ) سيضربك في يوم الدينونة بسيف (ا) الله مئة ألف ضربة 23 وسينالك من كل ضربة عذاب عشر جحيمات" 24 أجاب الشيطان :" سنرى في ذلك اليوم أينا أكثر فعلا 25 فإنه سيكون لي أنصار كثيرون من الملائكة ومن أشد عبدة الأوثان قوة الذين يزعجون الله ( [4] ) 26 وسيعلم أي غلطة عظيمة ارتكب بطردي من أجل طينة نجسة " 27 حينئذ قلت :" أيها الشيطان إنك سخيف العقل فلا تعلم ما أن قائل " 28 فهز حينئذ الشيطان رأسه ساخرا وقال :" تعال الآن ولنتم هذه المصالحة بيني وبين الله 29 وقل لي أنت يا يسوع ما يجب فعله لأنك أنت صحيح العقل " 30 أجبت:" يجب التكلم بكلمتين فقط" 31 أجاب الشيطان :" وما هما؟ 32 أجبت :" هما [ أخطأت فارحمني ] " 33 فقال الشيطان :" إني بمسرة أقبل هذه المصالحة إذا قال الله هاتين الكلمتين لي " 34 فقلت :" انصرف عني أيها اللعين 35 لأنك الأثيم المنشئ لكل ظلم وخطيئة 36 ولكن الله عادل منزه عن الخطايا(ب) 37 فانصرف الشيطان مولولا وقال :" إن الأمر ليس كذلك يا يسوع
