because he feared God.5 Behold, whilst he slept([1]), he was rebuked by the angel of God, saying, 6 ‘O Joseph, why art thou minded to put away Mary thy wife? 7 Know that whatsoever hath been wrought in her hath all been done by the will of God. The virgin shall bring forth a son,
8 whom thou shalt call by the name of Jesus; 9 whom thou shalt keep from wine and strong drink and from every unclean meat([2]),10 because he is an holy one of God from his mother’s womb.He is a prophet of God sent (a ) unto the people of Israel, in order that he may convert Judah to his heart ( [3]),11 and that Israel may walk in the law of the Lord, as it is written in the law of Moses. 12 He shall come with great power, which God shall (b )give him ,13 and shall work great miracles, whereby many shall be saved.’
14 Joseph, arising from sleep( [4] ), gave thanks to God, and abode with Mary all his life, serving God with all sincerity.

لانه كان يتقي الله 5 و بينما هو نائم ( [6] ) إذا بملاك الله يوبخه قائلا : 6 لماذا هزمت على إبعاد إمرأتك 7 فاعلم أن ما كون فيها إنما كوّن بمشيذة الله فستلد العذراء ابنا 8 وستدعونه يسوع 9 وتمنع عنه الخمر والمسكر وكل لحم نجس ( [7])10 لأنه قدوس الله من رحم أمه فإنه نبي من الله أرسل (ا) إلى شعب إسرائيل ليحول يهوذا إلى قلبه ([8]) 11 و يسلك اسرائيل في شريعة الرب كما هو مكتوب في ناموس 12 وسيجىء بقوة عظيمة يمنحها (ب) له الله 13 و سيأتي بأيات عظيمة تفضي الى خلاص كثيرين 14 فلما استيقظ يوسف من النوم ( [9] )شكر الله واقام مع مريم كل حياته خادما لله بكل اخلاص .
