1 Then said Jesus: ‘He who would live well should take example from the merchant( [1]) who locketh up his shop, and guardeth it day and night with great diligence, 2 And selling again the things which he buyeth he is fain to make a profit; 3 for if he perceiveth that he will lose thereby he will not sell, no not to his own brothers. 4 Thus then should ye do; for in truth your soul is a merchant, and the body is the shop; 6 wherefore what it receiveth from outside, through the senses, is bought and sold by it ( [2] ). 7 And the money is love. See then that with your love ye do not sell nor buy the smallest thought by which ye cannot profit. 8 But let thought, speech and work be all for love of God; 9 for so shall ye find safety in that day. 10 Verily I say unto you, that many make ablutions and go to pray, 11 many fast and give alms, 12 many study and preach to others, whose end is abominable before

1 ثم قال يسوع : من يرد أن يحسن المعيشة فعليه ( [3] ) أن يحتذي مثال التاجر الذي يقفل حانوته ويحرسه ليلا ونهارا بجد عظيم 2وإنما يبيع السلع التي اشتراها التماسا للربح 3 لأنه لو علم أنه يخسر في ذلك لما كان يبيع حتى ولا لشقيقة 4 فيجب عليكم أن تفعلوا هكذا لأن نفسكم إنما هي في الحقيقة تاجر 5 والجسد هو الحانوت 6 فلذلك كان ما يتطرق إليها من الخارج بواسطة الحواس يباع ويشتري بها ( [4] ) 7 والنقود هي المحبة, فانظروا إذا أن لا تبيعوا وتشتروا بمحبتكم أقل فكر لا تقدرون أن تصيبوا منه ربحا 8 بل ليكن الفكر والكلام والعمل جميعا لمحبه الله 9 لأنكم بهذا تجدون أمنا في ذلك اليوم 10 الحق أقول لكم أن كثيرين يغتسلون ويذهبون للصلاة 11وكثيرون يصوموا ويتصدقون 12 وكثيرون يطالعون ويبشرون الآخرين , وعاقبتهم ممقوتة عند
