the cloak of his enemy? 3 now how can he be of sane mind who separateth himself from God, the head of his soul, in order that he may injure the body of his enemy?
4 ‘Tell me, O man, who is thy enemy (a)? 5 Assuredly thy body, and every one who praiseth thee. 6 Wherefore if thou wert of sane mind thou wouldst kiss the hand of those who revile thee, 7 and present gifts to those who persecute thee and strike thee much; 8 because, O man, because the more that for thy sins thou art reviled and persecuted in this life the less shalt thou be in the day of judgement(b)( [1] ). 9 But tell me, O man, if the saints and prophets of God have been persecuted and defamed by the world even though they were innocent, what sahll be done to thee, O sinner? 10 And if they endured all with patience, praying for their persecutors ( [2] ), what shouldst thou do , O man, who art worthy of hell? 11 Tell me, O my disciples, do ye not know that Shimei ( [3] )cursed the servant of God, David the prophet, and threw stones at him? 12 Now what said David to those who would fain have killed Shimei? 13 “what is it to thee, O Joab, that

a Tell me, O son of Adam, do you know the truth, who is your enemy? your self and whose praises you.
b The greater your pain and trouble in this world owing to your transgression, the less will it be in the next world.

رداء عدوه 3 فكيف يكون صحيح العقل من يفصل عن الله رأس نفسه ليضر جسد عدوه 4 قل لي أيها الإنسان من هو عدوك (ا) ؟ 5 إنما هو جسدك وكل من يمدحك 6 فلذلك لو كنت صحيح العقل لقبّلت يد الذين يعيّرونك 7 وقدمت هدايا للذين يضطهدونك ويوسعونك ضربا 8 ذلك أيها الإنسان لأنك كلما عيّرت واضطهدت في هذه الحياة لأجل خطاياك قلّ ذلك عليك في يوم الدين (ب)( [4] ) 9 ولكن قل لي أيها الإنسان إذا كان العالم قد اضطهد وثلّم صيت القديسين وأنبياء الله وهم أبرار فماذا يفعل بك أيها الخاطئ ؟ 10 وإذا كانوا قد احتملوا كل شئ بصبر مصلين لأجل مضطهديهم ( [5] ) فماذا تفعل أنت أيها الإنسان الذي يستحق الجحيم ؟ 11 قولوا لي يا تلاميذي ألا تعلمون أن شمعاي ( [6] ) لعن عبد الله داود النبي ورماه بالحجارة 12 فماذا قال داود للذين ودوا أن يقتلوا شمعاي ؟ 13 " ماذا يعنيك يا أيوب حتى

ا اخبرني يا بنى ( بن ) آدم هل تعرف الصحيح من عدوك (من هو عدوك حقا ) نفسك ومن بمدحك (يمدحك ) منه
ب مقدار ما يكون لك ازدياد الالم والاضطراب في الدنيا لعصيانك يكون لك الالم في الاخرة أقل منه
