1 As God liveth (b), in whose presence I stand, ye will not receive adulation from me, but truth. 2 Wherefore I say unto you, repent and turn to God even as our fathers did after sinning, and harden not your heart ( [1] ).
3 The priests were consumed with rage at this speech, but for fear of ( [2] ) the common people they spake not a word.
4 And Jesus continued, saying: ‘O doctors, O scribes, O pharisees, O priests, tell me. 5 Ye desire horses like knights, but ye desire not to go forth to war; 6 ye desire fair clothing like women, but ye desire not to spin and nurture children; 7 ye desire the fruits of the field, and ye desire not to cultivate the earth; 8 ye desire the fishes of the sea, but ye desire not to go a fishing; 9 ye desire honour as citizens, but ye desire not the burden of the republic; 10 and ye desire tithes and first fruits as priests, but ye desire not to serve God in truth ( [3]. 11 What then shall God do with you, seeing ye desire here every good without any

الفصل التاسع والستون (ا)
1 لعمر الله (ب) الذي أقف في حضرته إنكم لا تنالون مني تملقا بل الحق 3 لذلك أقول لكم توبوا وارجعوا إلى الله كما فعل آباؤنا بعد ارتكاب الذنب ولا تقسوا قلوبكم ( [4] )" 3 فاحتدم الكهنة لهذا الخطاب ولكنهم لم ينبسوا بكلمة خوفا من الشعب ( [5] )4 واستمرّ يسوع في كلامه قائلا :" أيها الفقهاء والكتبة والفريسيون وأنتم أيها الكهنة قولوا لي: 5 إنكم لراغبون في الخيل كالفوارس ولكنكم لا ترغبون في المسير إلى الحرب 6 إنكم لراغبون في الألبسة الجميلة كالنساء ولكنكم لا ترغبون في الغزل وتربية الأطفال 7 إنكم لراغبون في أثمار الحقل ولكنكم لا ترغبون في حراثة الأرض 8 إنكم لراغبون في أسماك البحر ولكنكم لا ترغبون في صيدها 9 إنكم لراغبون في المجد كالجمهوريين ولكنكم لا ترغبون في عبء الجمهورية 10 وإنكم لراغبون في الأعشار والباكورات كالكهنة ولكنكم لا ترغبون في خدمة الله بالحق ( [6] ) 11 إذا ماذا يفعل الله بكم وأنتم راغبون هنا في كل خير بدون أدنى
