7 And he threatened the eleven, saying: ‘woe to you if ye believe this for I have won from God a great curse against those who believe this( [1] ).

8 And he was fain to cast away Peter; 9 whereupon the eleven besought Jesus for him, who cast him not away, 10 but again rebuked him, saying : ‘beware that never again thou say such words, because God would reprobate thee!’

11 Peter wept and said: ‘lord, I have spoken foolishly; beseech God that he pardon me.’

12 Then said Jesus: ‘If our God willed not to show himself to Moses his servant ( [2] ( , nor to Elijah whom he so loved, nor to any prophet, will ye think that God should show himself to this faithless generation( [3] )? 13 But know ye not that God hath created all things of nothing with one single word (a) ( [4] ), and all men have had their origin out of a piece of clay ( [5] )? 14 Now how shall God have likeness to man? 15 Woe to those who suffer themselves to be deceived of Satan!’

16 And having said this, Jesus besought God for Peter, the eleven and Peter weeping and saying: so be it, so be it, O blessed lord our God (b)’

17 Afterwards Jesus departed and went into Galilee, in order that this vain opinion

وتحاول أن تسيء إلى 7 ثم هدد الأحد عشر قائلا ويل لكم إذا صدقتم هذا لأني ظفرت بلعنة كبيرة من الله على كل من يصدق هذا ([6] ) 8 وأراد أن يرد بطرس 9 فتضرع حينئذ الأحد عشر إلى يسوع لأجله فلم يطرده 10 ولكنه انتهره أيضا قائلا :حذار أن تقول مثل هذا الكلام مرة أخرى لأن الله يلعنك 11 فبكى بطرس وقال: يا سيد لقد تكلمت بغباوة فاضرع إلى الله أن يغفر لي 12 ثم قال يسوع : إذا كان إلهنا لم يرد أن يظهر نفسه لموسى عبده ( [7] ) ولا لإيليا الذي أحبه كثيرا ولا لنبي ما أتظنون أن الله يظهر نفسه لهذا الجيل الفاقد الإيمان ( [8] ) بل ألا تعلمون أن الله قد خلق بكلمة ( ا )واحدة كل شيء من العدم ( [9] )وأن منشأ البشر جميعهم من كتلة طين ( [10] )؟ 14 فكيف إذا يكون الله شبيها بالإنسان ؟ 15 ويل للذين يدعون الشيطان يخدعهم 16 ولما قال يسوع هذا ضرع إلى الله لأجل بطرس والأحد عشر وبطرس يبكون ويقولون : ليكن كذلك أيها الرب المبارك إلهنا(ب ) 17 وانصرف يسوع بعد هذا وذهب إلى الجليل إخمادا لهذا الرأي الباطل
