( [1] )“ Take away your evil thoughts from mine eyes?” 7 And to what purpose saith Solomon: ( [2] )“With all thy keeping, keep thine heart?” 8 As God liveth(a) , in whose presence standeth my soul, all is said against the evil thoughts wherewith sin is committed, for without thinking it is not possible to sin. 9 Now tell me, when the husbandman planteth the vineyard doth he set the plants deep? 10 Assuredly yes. Even so doth Satan, who in planting sin doth not stop at the eye or the ear, but passeth into the heart, which is God’s dwelling ( [3] )(b). 11 As he spake by Moses his servant, saying: “I will dwell in them, in order that they may walk in my law.”
12 ‘Now tell me, if Herod the king should give you a house to keep in which he desired to dwell, would ye suffer Pilate, his enemy, to enter there or to place his goods therein? 13 Assuredly no. 14 Then how much less ought ye to suffer Satan to enter into your heart, or to place his thoughts therein; 15 seeing that our God hath given(c) you your heart to keep, which is his dwelling. 16 Observe, therefore, that the banker considereth the money, whether

( [4] ) "ابعدوا أفكاركم الشريرة عن عيني" 7 ولأي غاية يرمي سليمان ( [5] ) إذ يقول : " احفظ قلبك كل الحفظ" 8 لعمر الله (ا) الذي تقف نفسي في حضرته يقال كل شيء في الأفكار الشريرة التي تكون باعثا على ارتكاب الخطيئة لأنه لا يمكن ارتكاب الخطيئة بدون فكر 9 ألا قولوا لي متى غرس الزارع الكرم ألا يزرع النبات على عمق غائر ؟ 10 بلى , وهكذا يفعل الشيطان الذي إذا زرع الخطيئة لا يقف عند العين أو الأذن بل يتعدى إلى القلب الذي هو مستقر الله (ب)( [6] ) 11 كما تكلم على لسان موسى عبده قائلا : " إني أسكن فيهم ليسيروا على شريعتي " 12 ألا قولوا لي إذا عهد إليكم هيردوس الملك لتحفظوا بيتا ود سكناه أتبيحون لبيلاطس عدوه أن يدخله أو يضع أمتعته فيه ؟ 13 كلا ثم كلا 14 فبالحرى يجب عليكم ألا تبيحوا للشيطان أن يدخل قلوبكم أو يضع أفكاره فيها 15 لأن الله أعطاكم قلبكم (ج) لتحفظوه وهو مسكنه (ب)16 لا حظوا إذا كيف أن الصيرفي ينظر في النقود هل
